I suppose you're right, my main problem is the inability to understand what entertainment comes from guns and shooting them. Guns have always struck me as a killing tool and nothing more.TestECull said:As long as we get to keep our big blocks I don't care what fuel you want to feed 'em.Audemas said:First off, I forgot to put down the lack of progress on alternative fuel, thanks for the reminder.
Just make sure you can keep up with demand...
I wouldn't collect them. I would have a stash of guns I shoot at inanimate objects in either my back yard or at a rifle range for the enjoyment of it.Why though would you collect guns?
Not everyone who buys guns is either a murderer or a collector. Some of us just enjoy shooting and never fire a round in anger from most of them.
So? That automatically means we can't terrorize cola cans and milk jugs in peace with them? They are weapons with the sole purpose of killing, not hanging in a cabinet.
The whole issue people with your sentiment seem to have is the inability to fathom that many gun owners simply enjoy shooting the guns and do so safely at inanimate objects. It's no different than someone building a muscle car with an enormous big block in it. Sure he doesn't need that car, a Camry would do fine, but he enjoys hearing the engine scream and feeling the back end squirm around. It's the same with many gun owners, myself included.
People doWhy can't people collect other things like stamps
Most RCers don't like shelf queens. We tend to, erm, drive them.or RC's?
I'll counter with Jack Layton... Sure, he's not in power, but he irritates the fuck out of me!ShadowsofHope said:Stephen Harper.

I finished year 12 last year and I did differential calculus in Australia... Although it is the highest level you can do, only 12 people in my year did it out of about 120.Eumersian said:Our education standards. Some of us want to be challenged from time to time. I suppose having lower standards is a good way to weed out the people who wouldn't care in the first place, making it so that the truly motivated longhairs (old timey word!) would appear as better as such. But come on. I hear the German education system is teaching differential calculus in high school. I'm not saying go really far, but just something a little better?
USA, by the way.
You think it's hot in SA? Try living in northern WA or NT. I don't live there currently (South West atm) but in the summer it gets up to 45+ Celcius with 100% humidity. It's brutal.Engarde said:I am from Australia. The things I hate most include

When was the last time a stamp or an RC car killed someone?Guns are as much a hobby as stamp collecting and RC.
EDIT: Nevermind, I re-read your post and my argument doesn't really apply.Audemas said:-Words-
YES. God, I hate that about the U.S. Also, the ever increasing tuition rates, the ridiculous amounts of taxation in pretty much everything they can contrive and the staggering number of racist bastards trying to humbly convert you to Catholicism.Velvo said:US
Also the poor educational standards.
Yeesh, SA can be bad and all, but it is never that humid. Ouch.drummodino said:You think it's hot in SA? Try living in northern WA or NT. First, I think people who resort to mugging will still try to mug you regardless if they think you're holding a weapon or not. Second, I'm not for getting rid of guns completely, I'm for people not having access to assault rifles or high caliber weapons. If a person has a handgun and uses it for protection, sure why not. Now if the handgun has an extended magazine and hollow point rounds, that's where I draw the line.-Drifter- said:But you have to consider that the kind of people who are going to use guns to do bad shit don't care if it's illegal to own them; they'll simply go around the system, so none of that security matters. It leaves law abiding citizens at a disadvantage. It's not even a matter of self-defense should a situation arise, but simple prevention: If there's a good chance that the person you're about to try to mug is carrying, you'd probably think twice before attacking them, yes?Audemas said:And yes not everyone uses guns to murder one another, but the fact that anyone can go and get a gun no problem disturbs me. Yeah most gun stores make you fill out forms and what not but people get around that. If you want a gun and a gun show happens to be in town, you can get one that day. No background check, no waiting period, nothing. I guess then I'm more for gun law reform then, I don't know anymore.
We certainly do, but I've come to realize that like slapstick, ignorance and stupidity are some of the few things that are universal among all sentient beings. The US has lots of idiots (in part due to the fact that we are indeed a large country in terms of population), but I'm pretty sure that there are plenty of Europeans, Australians, etc that aren't exactly sophisticated.Uncle_Brainhorn said:America.
