Most of my favorite games I used to play as a kid don't work on windows 7...

I don't understand this...I assumed technology was getting more advanced.

Same with trying to play PS2 games on my PS3 and such, doesn't work...Why?
I completely agree with you.

I tried playing KOTOR on my 360 and it kept bugging on me with all kinds of problems. I thought the 360 was more advance then the first xbox so why is a Xbox game running so poorly on a Xbox 360 game
It's not built for that system. Each series of console are not built exactly alike, and a lot of games won't be able to adjust to the new hardware. This applies to computer games as well, some technology now-a-days wasn't even comprehensible when some games were made and are thus incompatible.

Well, the fact that Australia still pays almost double for its games than anywhere else in the world. I don't know why it's an issue; the discs and such are being manufactured in China, which is supposed to be one of our biggest trading partners. It's like, the history of Australia paying more has stuck because it's just that: history.

However, there are things that bother me more about gaming than the industry-aligned stuff; namely, the attitude of 12 to 18-year-old gamers. I'm 17, and I'm ashamed of how my peers act when they're online. Insults, excuses for dying, stupid arguments; it's all just absolutely pathetic. On the off chance that there's actually a majority of people with a microphone in a (console) gaming lobby these days, the talk is usually either about how awesome somebody is because they can quicksnipe, or some other asinine thing, or just involves the aforementioned insults, excuses for dying, and stupid arguments.

No offense, but the only people that I see online who are trash-talking, and acting like morons are Americans. When I'm in a lobby with Australians (which is a fortunately often occurence when playing MW2), the banter is humorous, and the conversation is good-natured and funny. I'm not going to go into specifics of why this is, for fear of alienating and offending certain people, but I feel that the majority of shit-talking online stems from 12-18 year-old Americans.

Finally, just quickly jumping back to industry-based points (because I forgot to mention this before), I'm sick of derivative games simply trying to copy COD. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a bit of COD, though not to the point of Prestige or anything like that, but I don't enjoy a bit of COD in the majority of AAA titles that are being released at the moment. Just recently, I picked up Far Cry 2, and I'm enjoying far more than most other FPSs I've played lately, just because of the fact that it approaches the concepts of a free-roam world and a shooter so differently to things that have been done before. The preceeding title aside, I don't think anything like that has been done before. The way it plays, and the way that you need to formulate strategies on-the-fly to ensure your survival is really something that I'd be interested in seeing in other games.

Centrally, I think it all boils down to the fact that videogames are becoming a big entertainment medium. As they've gained their popularity (which I think may have peaked), videogames have essentially been whored out to the masses, no longer to deliver creative, innovative play, but to give a quick-fix of entertainment and to make money. As the market levels out, and the hype over videogames settles down, I can see the return to truly innovative and interesting concepts coming out of AAA developers.

Probably already been said but I hate how the technology keeps progressing. I mean, I'm perfectly content with a simple controller, without the 3D, without the motion controllers and all that. It's just an annoyance because it's getting so hard to keep up with everything and they're going to start releasing all the good games on the newest stuff so people with the older (better) things will miss out.

P.S. Before I go buy another Expansion disk...

Does anyone have a spare D2 Expansion Key Lying Around? :p
Know what, I probably do, me and my bro both own the expansion. The question just is where we keep the buggers.

OT: Online communities for games, I wish one day that I find an online community that doesn't ***** and moan about the developer being apes...

The arrogance of people involved in the industry. On one hand we have the AAA studios which keep making the medium bleed just for short term gain, and the other we see the independent developers which while admirable tend to lose focus and become entitled the moment their game becomes a big hit.

The people. Lots of gamers are fanboys, douchbags, or dumbasses. That's true of any group but it bothers me more then anything else in games.

The entitlement of the entire video game community.

I'm looking at all of you
Your avatar is perfect for that statment XD

I hate the communities for most AAA games. Fuck you and your non-existant cake, and I don't care about your prestige.

It drives me nuts when the third act of an otherwise engaging, enjoyable game goes to pieces because it wasn't fully thought-through or the developers ran out of time. This happens way too often.

Hype that people have then blaming the game out of disappointment rather than actual gameplay.

Bring on the flames...

I hate how everytime I get into a conversation about videogames with someone they will always bring up call of duty.

Its not a great game in my opinion and i'm sick of causal gamers saying its the one of the greatest games, simply because they haven't tried many other good shooters.

Oh I also forgot to say I hate how there is a lack of splitscreen multiplayer with most games today. Everything has to be online... /sigh

That consoles HAVEN'T DIED! Now, so people don't try to rape me *raises flame shield* Consoles are the Industry trying to better games, only to make them worse, without consoles, graphics really wouldn't be the subject of debate with every console generation, instead, it would be, to an extent, about better mechanics and community support. Again, read up top if you don't understand the FIRST time.

Consoles basically make gamers entitled because they have to PAY to use the console, or the internet connection for it.

Without Consoles, DRM would go down the ridicolus pipes.

More advancements with companies less and less caring about sales and more or less donating themselves to shovling a fun experience to gamers, sure, there will still be HUGE publishers, but many more Devs could get their games out over the webs easier then Console gambling.

Bigger advancements on the PC over console, again *flame shield* with PC there are more and more ways to create games, and easily distribute it. Websites like NewGrounds and Armor Games are testiments to that, but also games like Ben Yahtzee Crowshaws games are very fun and more or less FOR fun, and they definetly WOULD not sell on Consoles.

Simply put back up there, now DON'T FLAME ME, BECAUSE THOSE MAY BE VALID! *Raises flame shield, again*

I hate how all the fps games have basically blended together and dish out the same thing, a poor campaign and de javu multiplayer. Let's face it, the creative single player experience is slowly dying.

I hate the stigma of being a gamer, that we're all just immature nerdy guys wasting time playing with toys in our parents basement. I also hate the gaming community, not all of us of course, just the racist, sexist, homophobic, people who believe that they're mature because they play shooters and other M rated games.

Honestly I could go on and on but y'all don't want that.

Pretty much every other gamer. Roughly 80% of them are annoying kids, pricks, both, or worse.

That violent behavior is generally the only way to proceed. I want to see a game that's basically a great big diplomacy fight.

I didnt know it was bad...is it the kind of thing where they dont know if they will have a job after the game is done? because that would probably be the worst thing ever
Sometimes the developer will just treat their employees really badly, but you can tell something's wrong in an industry when people have to work 100-hour weeks. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/111340-IGDA-Investigating-L-A-Noire-Dev

And then there's the whole Infinity Ward vs. Activision thing. Money kills this industry yet sustains it at the same time..

Games are expensive.

AND I'M POOR. D:

... that's about it. Oh, well, maybe when good games lack replayability unless you can add in new contents(Fallout 3 for example, fucking fantastic game, but I know about every crease in the world by now, and I have all the expansions).

I actually disagree, theres always has been a demand for quality single player, you think EVERY gamer is totally ok with "5 hour campaign..onto the multiplayer" I dont think so, just look at homefront

I imagine that would have alot to do with strict deadlines/ release dates (mabye part of the problem for DA2....well mabye)

but yeah, If I were working in an industry where I would be sure I would still have a job after the project was over...that woulsnt be very nice
