Australian Game Prices. Seriously all you americans have it easy, considering AUD is higher

I Just checked the exchange rate and was blown away that it's just about 1:1 and you're paying twice the money. I always took the argument with a pinch of salt but that is just extortion. I pity you.

OT: Expensive unnecessary hardware demands, horrific gamers, self-entitled gamers, the console-pc schism etc.

What's worse than all of that however, is the mistreatment of developers. Whether it's a boss that makes them work dangerous crunch time hours or a publisher that cuts key mechanics because they might not sell well, developers aren't getting enough say in what happens to their game. It's especially worrying because it's the area I want to go into too.

The industry. Their treatment of the people who actually do all the work is absolutely abysmal. It'd make the next AAA game I play more enjoyable knowing that the people who produced it actually got a fair deal for their work.

It's becoming more and more like the auto industry.
I hate the industry mostly for the way it treats the consumer. I see so many predatory practices, I?m surprised that there so many legitimate consumers left. Gamers seem to put up with a lot more than any other consumer group. This generation of gaming has seen hardware and software so broken it should?ve been recalled but ended up actually selling really well. At those standards, things are just going to get worse.

Between the way employees and the consumers are treated, I find it really hard to feel sorry for publishers who ***** and moan about used game sales and pirating: I know that even if they did get that extra little bit of cash, it wouldn't go to rewarding the people who do all the work or into making more solid products for the consumer. They would still cut all the same corners (as many as the consumers will allow them to get away with) and the money would just make the board members' pockets fatter.

Annoying fans who make a good game completely unappealing to play. Also, fans who automatically dismiss someone as a troll or hipster if they have a "controversial" opinion. I mean seriously Mario 64 fans, some people who have been playing games since the NES just honestly don't like that game.

I hate people who treat it like a job and cant have fun. I had this one guy in my wow guild who took pvp to seriously we couldn't even joke about it with him.

I think you're giving far too much credit to the people that run the industry. That's definitly not how they advertise each generation when they're trying to sell them. They pretty much talk about graphics and size.

All I said is holding no opinion is not a view-point worth respecting or an argument to be valid, because nothing is being said. Now, insults[footnote]Which what I wrote there wasn't, by the way. don't actually do anything to devalue a point, if it's in the case of someone like, say, me, who actually has a point to what he says. May make you angry while reading it, but doesn't make my points any more or less true.

They sure market it that way, because that's all a simple audience understands. The reality is, the looser the limits of the hardware you're working with are, the more complex and big your game will get. Period. Case in point, Crysis and Crysis 2.

In terms of everything, the fanbase. We are the most self entitled, arrogant assholes I've ever seen.

In terms of games, probably the implementation of all the distribution services. You need a bunch of different clients to run anything on the PC (Origin, steam, GFWL), any it is fucking stupid.

Kind of hesitant to say this, but the community of any multiplayer game, ever.

There probably isn't much that we can do about this; there's always gonna be the griefers, the arrogant guys who think they're the best, the guys who've never played before and are just trying to get the hang of the game, etc. Which makes multiplayer games so hard to play. You can get a good game going every once in a while, but you have to put up with the community just as often.

I will have to go with the online community in games like Black Ops as well.

A perfect example just happened today. I went 38 and 11 in team deathmatch. I said nothing at all during the game yet I receive hateful comments about how I'm a "lucky pos" because I killed some whiny 14 year old a lot from behind. Instead of a simple "good game", people always have to make excuses for themselves. Sportsmanship simply does not exist.

whatever happened to fair play and honor? whatever happened to may the best man win instead
of may the cheapest and cowardly man win?

Half-Assed 8-hours or less singleplayer campaign.
Console controls display on the PC.
No manuals/instructions (Thank god for the Witcher's 2 guides)
Casual games. And that there are too many of them.

I believe I can finally comment within this whole group and have it be honest.

People who, because of the fact they beat me at a fight twice and are fighting someone who clearly has the tag "Beginner" on their Player ID should be called a "Scrub" and told not to fight online ever again. Twice.

MVC3 is a fun game, but the guy put me down for being a new player is kind of a dick move. Why couldn't that have been used for encouragement, instead of "Don't Play online again, Scrub." put on a message for me?

Give me a month and I'll be as good as anybody else, but C'mon.

So, if I had to sum it up in a sentence, I'd say, "People who put others down because they think they are better than you".

So many things are wrong with gaming right now:

Franchises: The more crappy sequels you buy, the more you undermine the point of the original story and gameplay and the more you prevent innovation from new IPs.

Image: Games are viewed as children's toys, and this makes it easily for asshole politicians to fuck with the industry in order to gain popularity and support for their next election or whatever.

Story sacrifice for multiplayer: Video games have had some of the greatest narratives I've ever seen, but the growing "need" for online multiplayer is causing story to be shoved to the side.

EA: Do I even have to explain this?

The community: Almost all gamers act like either assholes or manchildren, which definitely doesn't help the image problem.

For me it's DRM.
I mean, you buy the game, put the disc in, install it, and play it. It's a slight bother putting the disc in each time, but I can deal with that.

Then Assassin's Creed 2 comes along with its "always-on" DRM for which you need a constant internet connection so that you can play a SINGLE-PLAYER game. It's just bull... No wonder so many people pirate games, huh?

So yeah, being restricted from playing games you've paid too much for in the first place really gets me.

2)Lagging like hell when playing games on my less-than-adequate PC.
