I'm reading Licensed to Kill: Hired Guns in the War on Terror, which is about private military contractors. It is not as good as I had hoped. The beginning was somewhat of a slog, the middle was actually pretty great, and the ending is returning to a slog again.

My next book is Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

I just finished reading Kim Harrison's "Black Magic Sanction", which lilmisspotatos mentions above (it being the new book in Hardback in that series. I am currently reading "Was Superman a Spy?" by Brian Cronin, which is about untold and legendary stories in comics, like the origin of the Captain America comic, why the Creator of "The Doom Patrol" felt the X-Men was a rip-off of his comic concept, and so on.

The best thing I read recently was the two latest books in Jane Lindskold's "Breaking the Wall" series, about an alternate land created by the Chinese Emperor Shang-ti 1000 years ago, when he decided to purge books of magic and legends from his Empire. He burned the books and killed the scholars who studied those things, and out of the deaths and burning was born "The Lands of Smoke and Sacrifice" where all the unrealized magical potential ended up. They had their own Emperor, and he had twelve advisors, from families who embodied the animals of the Chinese Zodiac. 100 years ago, the latest Emperor was killed by a rival, and his advisors exiled. They came back to our world, taking the son of the Emperor with them, becoming the Thirteen Orphans. They wanted to return to their homeland, but other things intervened, and each ended up starting a new family in this world.

Now, the descendants of the original Orphans are attacked by their distant relatives from the Lands of Smoke and Sacrifice. Because when they left, taking their Zodiac-based powers with them, they inured the land, and blunted the power of their families. Their distant relatives want the power back, and use magic spells to steal the Legacy from some of the Orphans before the Orphans become aware of what they are doing. But Brenda Morris, the offspring of Gaheris Morris, the Rat, retains a measure of that power after her father's connection to the Rat is stolen, and she joins with the other Orphans to defeat their distant relatives and return the powers that were stolen.

The last two books have the Orphans teaming up with the attackers to return to the Lands, which have become very different from the Lands everyone left. And Brenda, who is part Celtic in ancestry, finds that even though her father has his powers back, she is contacted by the Sidhe, who are also at risk from the villain who had seized control of the Lands of Smoke and Sacrifice- and they need her help and the help of the Orphans to take out the one who could put them all in danger.

I tend to read the Valdemar series of books, by Mercedes Lackey. Heck, I read just about everything that she's written, she's one of my favorite authors after all. :D

But, as for what I was reading lately...something called, The Sight. (Link Below)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sight_%28novel%29

It's a very...depressing book, one that sometimes I have to stop reading because I grow so heartbroken. But, I always pick it up again and continue on, reading until I finally finished it (even if someone spoiled the ending for me. Jerk.). Safe to say, it's quite possibly my favorite book of all time, and I'm probably going to order the sequel soon, too. :D

I mostly read sci-fi novels, particularly ones from the Warhammer 40.000 universe, and seeing how I don't have much time to read anything during semesters I doubt I'll ever run out as long as the Black Library exists. At the moment I'm kind of forcing myself through 'Sons of Dorn' by Chris Roberson, which isn't that bad, it's just that the Imperial Fists are a very boring chapter in my opinion.

Furthermore, if the mood strikes me I'll go out and get myself one or two Terry Pratchett books.

Other than that I read a lot of comic books and graphic novels, favorite authors being Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman.

Comics, John Grisham, Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Scott Adams... I'm quite limited in my scope, but I read a lot. If you like sci fi, try Phillip K Dick

Nothing currently. But I've been looking into Picking up something by H.P. Lovecraft like the Necronomicon or The Call of Cthulhu. I've also been a fan of poetry and am interested in Byron.

I read mostly non-fiction books: certain historical eras, biographies and books about various religions.

That being said, I'm on a "light reading" kick, so I decided to re-read some fantastic books based on zombie apocalypses--Pride & Prejudice & Zombies and, currently, World War Z, An Oral History of the Zombie War (soon to be a movie! wheeeeeeeeee!).

Just now finished Macbeth. Finally, a Shakespeare that I feel entirely deserves all of the praise, and is not just innuendo designed to placate a crowd of peasants.

Is that the book that was adapted to film? If so, I've seen it, own it, and absolutely loved it (the movie that is). There's another one called Day Watch. I can't remember which, but I really preferred one over the other.

Just now I'm reading Beyond Good and Evil by Nietzsche, which is pretty interesting if your into philosophy books. Usually thought, I'd stick to fantasy novels, my favourite being Magician by Raymond E. Feist. The series of books its party of, the Riftwar Saga, is also awesome. If anyone wants a good novel to read I couldn't recommend Magician enough :)

I usually read private eye/film noir style books like Dashiell Hammet and Raymond Chandler but I also like Lindsay Davis too.

At the moment, however, I'm reading James Blish's interpretations of the entire original Star Trek television series in book form, which is nice, light reading.

Generation A by Douglas Coupland

I've only just started it, but it mirror's the structure to Generation X, so I'm certain it'll be great.

I love anything Chuck Palahniuk and Douglas Coupland. I plan on reading Tell All, Rant, and Pygmy eventually. And possibly re-read some previous titles by Palahniuk.

I'm reading The Malazan Book of The Fallen series, the best fantasy series I have ever read. I just finished Toll The Hounds and am trying to track down a copy of Dust of Dreams.
