What do you think of classical?

I never liked rock or metal like most teenage guys. Sure, I listened to it, but I never really loved it. Then I found classical music. My god, it filled me with wonder as to how I survived without it. That music is true genius, and no talentless ****** like Bieber can even begin to be on the same reality plane to compare to it.

Now, a lot of people are snooty about classical music. "If it's classical it's bound to be good. Now I'm going to go to the golf club and have a glass of port." Wrong. There's terrible classical music too. I dislike the cheery stuff, it feels empty and shallow. I prefer quietly sad and beautiful music, such as the compositions of Ludovico Einaudi.

That's Ludovico Einaudi.

Now, what's your opinion on classical music? Do you like it? Despise it? Think it's boring, and prefer your rockin' metal?

If you do like it, who's your favourite composer?

I listen to NPR every day in the car, and while I don't enjoy the Liberal news, I do enjoy the classical music.

Depends. I listen to a little classical music. But I'm one of those people who listens to a little bit of everything.

I'm quite fond of Mozart, but I've found it's really tough to get into classical music. I prefer the more sweeping, fast paced orchestral stuff, and well, unlike contemporary music, it's all named thematically - there's like 12 requiems, and they all have the same names for their pieces (kyrie, requiem, dies irae, lacrimosa, etc) so it's quite impenetrable.

I enjoy and find it soothing. Perfect for relaxing or working on something where lyrics from a song can be distracting.

I'm a fan of Holst and Bach.

I listen to classical, but can hardly be considered knowledgeable. I don't even know enough about it to say my favorite composer, though I wish I could.

I listen to Classical music. I also listen to Baroque and Romantic music.

My favourite composer is the neo-Classicist Stravinsky though.

Wow never thought I'd find another Ludivico Einaudi fan, ever. Ya he's great.
I don't really listen to a whole lot of pure classical artists, a smattering of about four or five, the closest thing I listen to often are Hybrid's more symphonic.

It works as musical wallpaper, prettying up the background. I can be doing other stuff, but couldn't sit down just to listen to it at any great length.

Doing homework or something with that sort of music in the background is nice

This is a favourite of mine

I love classical and classical-style music, even if I like some things more. A good orchestra can sound better than any rock band.

My favourite classical music is Dvorjak's From the New World.

I prefer more 'modern' classical/orchestral music from the likes of Yoko Kanno or anime/video game music than the older stuff.

Yes, they help found modern music, but to me most of it hasn't aged well or feels to stuffy.
I'm sure having it forced own your neck (like most old dead white guy stuff) didn't help.

I have had my fill of classical. I could live without ever hearing it again. Ok I am biased.

Example:
P|B
P=piano
|=wall
B= My Bed

My dad would play the piano at 4 am every damn weekend. he would also blast it to the point of drowning out music in my room with my door shut every weekday.

I might be able to listen to classical if they took the pianos out of it and as long as it wasn't one of the pieces pounded into my brain.

I need to go hide in rock and metal now too many memories, too many bad things.

I love neoclassical works, especially the bi-tonal stuff, man that shit is the shit. I'd say my favorite composer would definitely have to be Igor Stravinsky.

Johannes Brahms is pretty cool too, I'd say my favorite work would have to be his Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Minor.

I love metal and rock, but...

[HEADING=2]I love even more classical music[/HEADING]
Seriously, I am a pianist. And the only music I have played until now is Classical. I am actually in the Conservatory, so that could explain why.
