What doesn't scare you?

I know alot of people who are scared of heights, but i kinda like them, i like going right to the edge and just seeing massive drops to the ground, kinda gives me buzz.

Horror games don't tend to scare me. Some are unnerving, but aside from a little jump once in a while they really don't bother me.

The reason I mentioned them is mostly to contrast with horror movies. B-horror movies don't scare anyone and should IMO be relabeled as comedies with blood, but the really well-crafted ones are a truly unpleasant experience for me. Case in point would be Cujo which I watched recently. By the end, I was exhausted & covered in sweat.

I think the big difference is that in horror games, I'm empowered. I have agency. Even when Bad Stuff (TM) happens, I have the confidence that I'm in control and can respond accordingly. Even if I die and am dismembered horribly, I know that I probably could have avoided it if only I'd done XYZ. And I can reload my save and do just that. Good horror movies are different in that like a bad nightmare, you can't move, you can't control anything, you can only watch.

Yes. Fear is a healthy thing. It's blind panic that kills.

OT: Zombies really aren't scary. As somebody once put it:

If we look at zombies as a species, they are pretty much designed for failure. Their main form of reproduction is also their only source of food and their top predator. If they want to eat or reproduce, they have to go toe to toe with their number one predator every single time. That's like having to fight a lion every time you to want to have sex or make a sandwich. Actually, it's worse than that: Most top predators are only armed with teeth and claws, meaning they have to put themselves in harm's way to score a kill. Humans have rifles.

Spiders, all bugs for that matter, heights and/or falling, black cats ( have 3 of them )...wait, is that fear or just superstition?..regardless. Tick them off. Poptarts, hoodies and the opposite sex...some horror games shit me up though, not like dead space, silent hill always got under my skin...somehow

Horror games and movies don't scare me. I'm not afraid of the dark or heights or anything like that. Not too keen on pigeons, after one flew through my window and smashed the glass. If I hadn't been out at the time then I probably would have been killed or seriously injured as glass was embedded in the door. Yeah I hate birds now.

No horror film to date that I've watched has scared me much, they've made me think and sometimes made me a bit paranoid but its proper terror as I know it's irrational. I do however HATE hights to the point that (and this is not a joke) I get scared when I look down off the roof tops when playing mirrors edge. You can laugh as much as you want but it happens and I can' stop it

Paranormal Activity. I spent the whole film in tension waiting for something genuinely frightening to happen, and then they just killed all that tension by making the word 'demon' come up a lot.

I think the tension was part of the experience. If the film made you tense at all, then it did its job. The fact that it was a powerful, invisible being that they couldn't escape from was scary in itself. It doesn't matter what label they put on it.
