What EXACTLY is wrong with people today?

After spending weeks viewing article after article of people doing stupid/disgusting shit, I just have to ask you all this. Where does it come from? Why do they fell the need to do such things? Is it because they want to stand out? Or their being influenced by something? Is it because of how we treat them?

It depends on your worldview, really. From an atheistic perspective... I don't know, just that some people are stupid or something I guess. From a religious one (monotheistic, at least), humankind is flawed, and you are seeing examples of sin nature. I personally think that one makes more sense, so I'l go for saying that humankind is inherently good, but fundamentally flawed, and those who don't know or don't care do stupid crap like this for whatever their messed up reasons are. There are many different reasons, but ultimately it comes down to a flawed sense of morality and purpose.

I agree with Hopeless Bastard. However I also think people act stupid to be popular. In a previous topic someone wrote that he started drinking alcohol and getting drunk so that he could hang out with the popular guys. It always seems to be the intelligent people who have the worst social life - although there are exceptions.

When people become bored they do stupid stuff. Different people do different stuff, so, we get different things to do. Finally, some things are just crazy and makes me wonder, didn't they have anything else to do?

It has been imprinted into the human subconcious to reduce our population but or social adaptations wont let us just go out and kill (unless your insane). So some people start wars and others do the stupidist things they can in a hope that they die. Why do we want to reduce our population, what else will animals, dont make me laugh, disease, in most modern day countries a large amount of wide spread deadly diseases have been compleatly erased so the only thing left is our selves and aliens.

This is an easy one.. Pop culture.. Yup that's right. Pop culture is to blame. From pop music to the iPod. Everything's gotten way too easy. Social graces went out the door with the advent of the internet and abbreviated text speak. Kids grow up without the intelligence to carry on a real conversation that doesn't have then LOL'ing or ROFL. Which one of us can play a multiplayer game without being called a "N" or being "PWNED"? Parents of yester-year were involved in raising their children, and with the lessening of beating the ever loving shit out of your children in favor of taking away their cell phones for a week, children have a sense of empowerment/entitlement. The major problem with that is that they're growing up expecting everything on a platter, and they're getting it. Oh boy I could go on forever but if you can understand the written word, I've made my point...peace I'm outta here.
