just touching on the aspect of humans being good, we actually are neither. if you strip away the laws and rules us humans have created then there is no right or wrong, it comes down to instinct and survival. Only the smartest and or strongest survive.Thaius said:It depends on your worldview, really. From an atheistic perspective... I don't know, just that some people are stupid or something I guess. From a religious one (monotheistic, at least), humankind is flawed, and you are seeing examples of sin nature. I personally think that one makes more sense, so I'l go for saying that humankind is inherently good, but fundamentally flawed, and those who don't know or don't care do stupid crap like this for whatever their messed up reasons are. There are many different reasons, but ultimately it comes down to a flawed sense of morality and purpose.
My two cents, anyway.

and how exactly is the Large Hadron Collider stupid and going to destroy the world?
Well, it's already destroyed the frames on this page. Imagine how much more power it will have after it is allowed to expand even further.
There was something about ripping a hole into subspace and consuming the world or something, I'll admit, I didn't pay it much heed.
That's kinda a fake statistic. The IQ system is calibrated off of standard deviations, with 100 as the median. To say that half the population posesses double digit IQs is almost technically accurate. But it's an indicator of how the number is generated and calibrated, not really a statement of intelligence.Cgull said:Is this a real product?! On topic - It's human nature that anything that can be done, regardless of how bloody daft it is, will be done by someone eventually. Usually with the reasoning 'for a laugh' or 'because I could'.
See though, that's assuming an atheistic point of view: in that case, you are right. If, on the other hand, there is in fact a god who created the universe, then whatever he defines as right and wrong is, in fact, right and wrong. He would have created the world with a certain natural order, both in scientific and social ways, and straying from those ways would be considered, by definition of the one who created us and everything else, wrong, and thus wrong within the context of the universe in which we live.Burningsok said:just touching on the aspect of humans being good, we actually are neither. if you strip away the laws and rules us humans have created then there is no right or wrong, it comes down to instinct and survival. I understand now, some people are lost too though.SUPA FRANKY said:...Abengoshis said:I don't know what you're referencing. Could you at least give us an example of what you mean?
Do I really have to?

Strange... You know what it is, but you don't know that there's a chance that it can make black holes. Uh, just so you know...Black holes are bad. Like [S]crossing the streams bad[/S] crossing a million streams at once, bad.
What's wrong with the Black holes? I like black holes. OOOH I get it. it's because they're BLACK isn't it? Seriously though, they already turned on the LHC. It didn't make black holes. Nobody expected it to make black holes except conspiricy theorists with not even the slightest idea of how the machine works.
