Sonic the Hedgehog, waaaaaaay back when dinosaurs ruled the earth and no one had ever heard of "loading times".

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening had a big impact on me when I was about 8
But Tales of Symphonia acted a sort of renaissance for my gaming career

Mega Man 2.

When I got old enough, I was 6, I was allowed to play that game since my older brother didn't play it anymore. I played that game a lot and I loved it to pieces, and now I wish I still have my NES.

I think the first game i ever played was ghouls and ghosts, in the local arcade.

But the first game i actually played properly was super Mario bross 3.

F-Zero for the SNES and Super Mario World. Those two were challenges for someone just starting and once I started to progress, I was hooked for life. SO MANY TIME TRIALS!

That was a big one for me too, the wikipedia article makes a nice read, here is a quote from one of the game's creators:

"So we, of our own accord, got together, spent our own time, we worked really, really hard, you know, just 20-hour days to complete this, because we were making something we wanted to make. Probably in all my years of actually being in a video game company, that was the best time of my working at Capcom, because we were actually working toward a goal, we were laying it all on the line, we were doing what we wanted to do. And it really showed in the game, because it?s a game, once again, that we put all our time and effort and love, so to speak, into it, designing it."

Wolfenstein 3D, I guess. At least that was the game that inspired me to buy a Playstation and my true 'first love' of gaming, Doom.

Torins Passage was probably one of the first real games I played. But what really got me into gaming was Tekken 2 on the PS... That game is BRUTAL but totally worth it when you're 11 years old.

That is an awesome read, and you could tell they put time and effort into making it. When I first played it, I thought it was the greatest thing ever since the jumping and shooting was great, and the bosses were awesome. I loved the music too.

Video games have been there since as long as I can remember. I have no idea what the first game I played was, but it had to have been something from the old Atari/Intelivision error.

Well the game that change me from a kid who plays games into gaming as my hobby was Final Fantasy 7. Games I played before this were mostly platformers or games with very little depth. FF7 came among and changed my very perception of what games were, I've been playing mainly RPGs ever since (though have moved away from JRPGs).

The first game I ever played was Sonic The Hedgehog, but the game that REALLY got me obsessed with gaming is FF7, I was so young, and just got hit with so much awe.
I still love the game, nostalgia glasses withstanding.
