Hmm......I'd really have to say Aidyn Chronicles because it is a wonderful RPG that not a lot of people know about. It was for the N64, and it had fun combat and a good story.....if I remember correctly because I haven't played it in about 10 years.

I think Neverwinter Nights 1 and Freespace 2 both have cult followings that still heavily mod and play 'em. (I'm still playing Freespace 2, actually...)

The Total War series seems like a good fit; it's considerably well-known, but only appeals greatly to a condensed number of people.

Fallout 3

*Smells Fanboyism in the air.*
I think i need to refine what "cult classic" means

cult classic is the status given to movies that are not mainstream (like, a B movie almost.) when they build up a sort of following that last well into today (with the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show still making midnite rounds in certain theaters to this day, or like the parody of the movie Heavy Metal in the episode Major Boobage of south park.)

Fallout 3 is a recent game with mainstream success, i would however deem the first 2 as cult classics

Day of Defeat/Source

It's the Valve shooter no-one tends to remember, as such it has a much smaller but altogether more dedicated fanbase than TF2 and the online gaming behemoth that is Counter Strike: Source.
It's also AWESOME!

The first 3 Mechwarrior games are pretty much cult classics too, people are still churning out new mech load outs for 2 and 3, 3 even has a fair number of servers running for it.

Anything and everything by Team Ico
Super Mario RPG
Psychonauts (I played it before Yahtzee deemed it cool)
Bioshock
Okami
Oddworld games
Legend of Dragoon
Jet Force Gemini
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
XIII
Killer 7

Those are probably all going to be mentioned in this thread eventually.
Bioshock sold an arse load last I checked, and everyone loved it, so that's not even close to being a cult classic.

Chaos Legion and Shadow Hearts 1&2 (never played 3, never wanted to).
Chaos Legion was awesome, I loved he idea of it, and it's a shame we probably would never see a sequel.

And on topic...Original War.

I would consider Mark Ecko's Getting Up Contents Under Pressure a cult classis. Maybe I'm the only one but I think it's a great game.

Portal 2 isn't out yet, so we can't call it a cult classic, it has a cult following but since its not out its not a cult classic.

With regards to cult classics, I guess Deus Ex is one, its the one game that isn't flamed by /v/irgins or /b/tards.

Killer7 and Shadow of Collosus must be cult classics, when I bought them I was commended by randoms in the shop and the shop staff regarding my purchase, and no one tried to spoil the plot for me.

gta1 and 2, 3 and after were very popular and mainstream (and awesome) but they were not 'cult classics'

I heard its a superb game, but I hate Marc Ecko with a passion, so I will never buy into anything he is associated with, I will read about what he does though.

I wouldn't be a good anti fanboy if I didn't know more about him than his average fan.

In fact i've not read shit about him recently because of his debts, which is fucking good.
