I promised myself I wouldn't face palm, and when the first announcement came I promised myself I would remain optimistic.
They gave her a partner.
This more than anything is my issue. I could take the new crappy top down isometric bollocks, I could take the lack of connection to the established story and plot, and just think of it like an Elseworlds book or something. I was even excited that they seemed to be returning to the puzzle based aspect of the originals.
They gave her a partner.
And of course, the fact that from the looks of this clip they are now touting the combat as being part of the game, rather than the original focus on puzzles I thought there would be, combine that with the graphics looking indistinguishable between characters and scenery and everything looking like it's miles away as the player watches from orbit around Canis Major, makes me worry that the combat is going to be frustrating and pointless, and near impossible to aim or even pick out targets, and you know that they're going to have friendly fire damage so every time you fire randomly you kill your...........*shudder*..........[sub]partner.[/sub]
All in all it looks like they've finally managed to kill my spirit for Lara Croft, something not achieved since Angel of Darkness, and dare I say that this looks even worse than Angel of Darkness? Yes I do.
I wait anxiously for the next next reboot, when they can finally remember that Lara is best controlled in third person over the shoulder. And she doesn't need a mothercuntfuckingassshitbollockswankingdicklover partner.
PARTNER!
