I'm only in year 8 so it's no suprise that people think i'm odd for reading, having an interest in politics, being pedantic, knowing big words etc. It's very annoying and because if say, for example, 'I like reading. It's very congruous of me to do so' I get a responce of 'eh? You're weird you,like'

Tuesday dinner time I scared a bunch of pigeons, just by stamping my foot hard, because they were scavaging around my feet and a random girl on a bench gave a disgusted look and called me weird under her breath. I mean c'mon!! I fail to see any weird element at all.

OT: Using "big" words, by the girl my best friend likes. I hardly ever use a word bigger than "Contemplate" or "Rectify", and when I do, she gives me "wut?" look, and proceeds to scold me for using words she doesn't know.

Pretty much this:

For liking literally everything I like. And I'm not even that big a gamer.

For example, I get weird looks for mentioning Starcraft, Morrowind and even Portal. I only know 3 people who like the games I do - however, one of them can't use their PC - but they're so clues up about everything Valve related you wouldn't be able to tell - and one of them is a JRPG obsessive ( I prefer Ws, Js are still pretty fun, though).

I hate my school.

Nowadays it's not my school doing it, but work, and my family does it excessively as well. And I know one person who likes games I like as well, amongst other things, but he's the most elitist, braggy, obnoxious smelly and fat asshole you'll ever meet.

It's a lonely lonely world...

I've been called weird for not drinking alcohol (at all, ever), and even as far back as 14 (22 now) I've been called weird for being too much like an adult or too responsible. Also, I've been called weird because I actually follow traffic laws like not speeding, maintaining safe distances from cars and using my turn signal.

Because some people would rather see me dead, or having never existed.

Understandable, but then again so is the hatred. To want to do certain things to children, who aren't even equipped to deal with it, it invokes a protectionist response of people. Some would say you're a ticking time bomb, but I won't judge about that. To know you can't really do anything about those sort of those feelings must feel, well, shit, I reckon.

Which slightly reminds me of something of a sexual nature as well. I got called weird for not liking those typical modern videoclips filled with scantly, and often scrawny, women. My dad just plainly said "What are you, gay or something?" I'm so sorry dad that I actually have taste and a certain amount of class you apparently do not possess.

The same thing happened when I mentioned not liking that type of girl at all. I save my affection for this kind of woman [http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2EPJUI5nVXk/S80ynNi_EHI/AAAAAAAACws/RPKjoxEDQ5Y/s1600/joan.jpg]. Curvy, stylish, classy yet still very feminine and very sexy.

Dad apparently thinks that "sexy" equals displaying gratuitous amounts of skin, preferably nothing. Simple thing.

'people' have the capacity to be utterly wrong about the most surprising things. Typically I assume if I'm considered weird by them, I am doing something very, very right. I suspect that's not exclusive to just me.
