"Techwear"

A community of people who really want to dress like they live in a futuristic cyberpunk dystopia. Sort of like the people who want to dress in tactical military gear...but for nerds.
I've seen a couple of vids mocking this style of fashion. It really is no different from any other "high" fashion fad, it's almost exclusively about wearing expensive shit that you know other people know is expensive.

That said, if someone gifted to me a techwear piece, like a cool waterproof jacket or something, I wouldn't really mind.

Damn... I mean I always knew it in my heart, but I desperately wanted to be wrong.

I think the biggest problem with it is that it's all polyester and vinyl so you're basically paying hundreds or thousands of dollars for what is a tailored garbage bag with some zippers.

Much of the world used to sleep in two phases/cycles, until the industrial revolution mashed them together. But it’s not necessarily a bad thing.

That the Railway series of books has a surprisingly deep amount of lore for a children's book series about talking trains. Funny things to note are that not only does the author exist in-universe, but so do the books and even the television series too;

36,000 people are murdered every year in Mexico. That's an average of 100 every day, 1 every 15 minutes.
That means more people are murdered in Mexico in 3 weeks than all year round in Argentina.
It also means more people are murdered in Mexico in 3 days than all year round in Spain.

(Friend just came back from there and we were randomly flipping through crime stats, nothing agaisnt the country)

The latest polymer that will outlast…well, probably everything -

That's crazy. Plastic buildings, plastic bridges?? That's some arcane shit right there...

Not only that, but the books can go in some surprisingly weird and dark places in that early Victorian way. I've got the omnibus of them on my shelf and it is a prized, prized possession.

Seeing what it starts out as, and what it ends up as -

*mind blown*. Talk about precision, and the heat that must be required to enable forging something that size through it all. To top it off this isn’t exactly a recent process by any industrial measure, which makes it even more impressive.

Yeah, the heat necessary to bring something that large to moldable levels...🤯

So today I learned that Jaleel White, possibly best known as... the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog but also as Steve Urkel in the sitcom Family Matters....

...has his own brand of marijuana. Called "Purple Urkel".

I learned this about three hours ago and I have not stopped laughing since.
