I have too many watches to just leave them out on my bedside table anymore so I figured I should get an organizer, especially since I'm getting a new watch shipped to me in April. Plus it has organization space for jewelry, so I can put my necklaces and rings in there as well and tidy up my bedside table.
Are you a collector, or just really a stickler for being punctual?

I wouldn't exactly call myself a collector, I just like having the right watch for the right outfit and occasion. Also one of my hobbies is designing and assembling watches.

Welp, I own a sword now. I'm one of those sword people.

Do you have a watch to go with it?
Yes actually, I have a field watch that I made a few months ago that matches it decently well.

What kind?
A side sword. Basically an early period rapier. Very lightweight and not a lot of hand protection so it's easy to wear. I mainly got it for my Ren Faire outfit, but it's a real usable sword, not a wall-hanger.

Now I need to make a sword-belt for it. Good thing I recently took up leather-working.

You do realize that we require a picture. So that we may live vicariously through you and experience your sword/watch people status.

I'm currently 3D printing a stand for the sword. Once I'm able to take a decent picture I'll post it.

The sword:

with the matching watch:

The leather band more or less matches the brown leather belt attachment points on the sheath, the hands are blue "sword" style hands, the white face matches the white wire wrap, and the titanium case has the same brushed metal finish as the guard.

After much deliberation with the council of elders, you are know the official SWORD/WATCH GUY of the escapist. May you wear this label with pride.

Sennheiser HD 599 SE Open-Back Headphones

At the $100 sale price, these are a terrific entrance into audiophile headphones. Were I to have spend the normal $225ish, likely would have gone for something else.
Great for when the wife yells at me that my speakers are on too loud.

I'm advised if I want to really hear the next level up, there are diminishing returns. I'd likely have to go more like $400ish to really hear a difference.

I've never been a fan of open back headphones. People say they sound better, but I don't like how much sound leaks out through them. If I put on headphones it's to block out the world and also to ensure that the rest of the world doesn't have to hear what I'm listening to, and open back headphones fail to do both of those things.

I have a pair, and they're fantastic for if you need to listen out for things like phone calls or doorbells or whatnot, but they really don't deliver sound as well as closed ones.

I feel like it depends what kind of sound you're looking for. If you're looking for a natural sounding, wide, open, and more well articulated sound stage, open backs are better for that. If you want a bit more kick and bass flavour to your music then it makes sense closed backs would be better for that. Less so that one is better than the other, and more about the wants of the listener

I heard they are better for gaming. Somehow, you are supposed to get a better sense of direction from which sound is coming.
I don't really understand the concept. They fit completely over my ears and sound very good.
Prepping for retirement, I've downsized. I game on a space we made in the basement for me and my PC, so, I'm away from household sounds and others are away from me.

I made some kind of crappy infographics to explain the difference, using a shooter game as a framework for the design.
In infograph A, the deep blue line is the feeling of soundstage that closed back headphones might create. It creates your typical left and right feeling, you can kind of get a sense of things, right? It sounds normal and what you'd expect.

A)

But in infograph B, the light blue line is the soundstage open back headphones might create. Here you can not only hear sounds better (like the footsteps), and be able to pick apart where they're coming from, but some of them (like the explosion) have moved further out into the soundstage, better helping you pinpoint their exact position and distance that they came from to begin with. You might even be able to hear distant sounds that you couldn't before because now the mix is wider and things don't get mushed together with the rest.

B)
3.png

Obviously there might be better ways to describe all of this, but this is something I threw together to hopefully give you an idea of how it works and why open backs can be beneficial in games. A lot of it is about positioning and sense of distance and openness
