I'm kind of expecting it to suck. After Oblivion to F3 to New Vegas, it seems to be in a constant down. I'll probably rent it.

SACRILEGE!!! Overall, I don't see it being a disaster in a box as a possibility. Though I don't know what I would honestly do if it was indeed crap. I guess never play it again but enjoy all the Collector's Edition crap I have anyways?

If it is awful, one of my friends may commit seppuku and without a hint of irony I shall shout "This is the part where you fall down and BLEED to death!"

My answer is...

TONIGHT, WE MOD IN HELL! [sub]Or whenever the mod tools for the game are released after launch.[/sub]

Off-topic: Okay, PS3, Xbox 360 or PC. Which should I get it for?

New Vegas was made by Obsidian not Bethesda. Also New Vegas was good.

What if another oblivion game is bad? The world will move on without caring after a couple months.

Honestly, I love rpg's but i have never been a fan of this series. Maybe its the silly dialogue heads, the clearly scaled enemies that rip me out of any sense of realism or the absurd travel mechanics that makes the game either too ear ot too hard depending on where you're headed.
Sounds like you only played Oblivion. Don't judge the whole series on that game; Oblivion is Morrowind's blonde younger sister: prettier, more popular, but boring and dumbed down.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I think it would be hard for the game to be bad, but its bethesda, so I can totally see it being buggy out the ass.

If it's awful, I'll eat my hat. I don't even own a hat, but I will find one and eat it for the sole purpose of expressing my amazement.

It's a Bethesda game, so it might have a ton of bugs that cripple the game. I'm also expecting 4 or 5 different voice actors, along with 25 different faces to go along with them.
Mods, 80-ish voice actors, and they'll be hundreds of faces. I don't think oblivion repeated faces, why should Skyrim? Not to say Oblivion NPC's didn't look terrifyingly bad...

Mods have been a pretty essential component of the TES series (and FO3) since Morrowind in 2001. If it sucks, make sure you get it on PC so thousands of dedicated modders can un-suck it.

If that's the case, I'll avoid gaming websites for a while. It was annoying enough after Dragon Age II, and that wasn't even a bad game.

I thought New Vegas was horrible actually. Even with mods.

I would laugh for like ten minutes straight at all the people I know who pre-order it and then began planing their lives a month afterwards around playing it. Then it would become a running joke.
Hey, X...
Yeah well you pre-order Skyrim.... HAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah, that'd be awesome.

Ninja'd!

If it sucks, I will chuckle, because there is MEGA hype saying it will be amazing. Then I will be sad, cause I kinda wanted to play it... then I will hope EA doesn't kill ME3.

It is soooo nice to see beards and proper eyes back after Oblivion fucked them up.

Seriously, every time I saw a dunmer in Oblivion I wanted to say: "there's a visine for that!" Stupid just using red-tinged human eyes...

Also I always missed the bosmer's wacky bug eyes.

For the record, by this point Bethesda would have to completely revamp the game in order for it to suck. If the various multi-hour demos remain true to the actual game, it should be fine (if they don't, then Bethesda had a pretty busy month).
For everyone talking about the numerous bugs of Bethesda games, I've played and beaten Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas and have only come across one actual game-breaking glitch (in which a Deathclaw teleported several feet forward after I loaded a game, thus rendering it impossible to sneak past). Maybe that's because I don't actually go looking for them.
