You mean like every other Bethesda game before the mod community makes it playable?
i dont mind the vanilla games too much...

but this, if the game sucks, the mods wont, they will turn it inside out and shit sparkly muffins all over it to turn it into awesome sauce.

Even if it suddenly turned out that they lied about all the changes and unique features and the gameplay is exactly as in Oblivion, and all the preview versions were only created for the purpose of deception but will never get released, just to piss everyone off, it still wouldn't be awful, but atmospheric and enjoyable. Too bad, huh.

What up with the hate for Bethesda? I liked Morrowind, but I also liked Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas. My only problem with Vegas was that it crashed a bit too often and monsters often got stuck in the ground. Skyrim looks like it's going to be great.

What if I die before I get to play the game? What if it was all just a cruel joke? What if it's the best thing I've ever played?

So many questions. I guess I'll just have to wait for a few weeks to get the answer to at least one of them.

Being a Bethesda game, here's the fool proof way to ensure that you get a golden gaming experience: Buy something else-LET ME FINISH-which you can sink the next two or three months into, after that pick up your copy of Skyrim, install all the new bug fixing patches, a few community mods which improve various gameplay aspects and then sit down with a fully charged... ... mouse and be prepared to say bye bye to the next six months.

Wait 2 months, apply mods, profit. Unless there are no modding tools....in which case dance and say I told you so! It isn't a game I am very interested in buying unless it gets a very active modding community like the last few. And only then if I friend will point out a really great make ai not shit / combat not shit / bug fix mod or something.

Impossible. The mod community will fix any problems that it has. If you own it for console, well, that sucks for you.
Actually Bethesda says they want to put mods on the console.
Really? That sounds super then. I always felt it sucked that console players couldn't access mods. I have friends who own several of the games in the past and often complain about things that were so easily fixed on PC.

Well New Vegas was actually developed by Obsidian and just published by Bethesda. Bethesda has been getting a lot of hate lately though. I wonder if the whole lawsuit with Mojang has to do with it.

I'd just not get it. I'm already asking for it for the holidays so I can just cross it out.

I have faith in Bethesda. And even if it does go wrong, there are still the mod tools and the community will turn it into an awesome game regardless.

I'd feel a bit furious, since I actually plan to buy this game at full price, which I very rarely do. I have faith in Bethesda though.

I'll kill myself.

I'm not kidding. Dead as a doornail.

Might take Todd with me.

Or I'll just go back to Dark Souls. Yeah. Proly that.

We won't learn a lesson about the hype-machine, and we'll just get all excited about the Next Big Thing that publishers 'accidentally' leak footage of.

It's not impossible, but Bethesda has a pretty good track record. Once they got the bug-ridden days of Daggerfall and the like behind them, they've generally delivered good, solid games in the Elder Scrolls line. Skyrim might be great, or it might be merely good, but a miserable failure would seem about as likely as a building with a properly set foundation falling down lower than that foundation.

skyrim is an iteration on Morrowind and Oblivion, which were both good. it can't be awful, it can be "not good as morrowind/oblivion", or bad, at worst. but certainly not awful, iterations just don't work that way ;)

The only thing that I'm afraid of is if (Since I'm a PC Gamer) it's a horrible console port like Rage was with the graphics issues...

Sure, everything is fixed in patches, but what if I want a game that just works right off the disk...? Hmmmmmm?

Rewind back 10-odd years and games never had an issue.... (well, never is an overstatement, but, they were a hell of a lot less frequent than today.)
