Buy another game instead

or keep playing it. Originally i hated Fallout New Vegas but after a while i pretty much adopted it and it became my son

If it sucks, then i lose $90 and will probably pirate their next games. Im sick of companies hyping games up so much then letting me down. Its bullshit.

But im pretty optimistic that it will be good.

While I have complete respect for Bethesda's judgement if it does get nobbed up I'll go to Arkham City or Saints Row 3

I'd be very surprised from the gameplay traliers and released information it seems like it could be a very good and replayable game... But if it sucks then I shall have to beat me head against the floor until mine brain f**ks up and all I see is a great game.

Rather impossible by this point.
Going by the information provided and the footage seen, it's already glorious.
Even if the main questline sucks balls, it's going to be great.
I mean, Oblivion was a great game that I have many fond memories of, and its combat system sucked and the main questline was atrocious.
Skyrim cannot fail with its formula.

I will laugh so much. Then I will gloat to everyone who's already nominated it for game of the year of 2011.

If its awful, then its awful.
Bethesda seem to be fairly good at engines (with bugfixes), leaving a modding community and i mean have you ever seen those guys? I'm going to be starting game development and i call these guys absolutely insane.

Be glad I didn't get TOO hyped for it.

I'll avoid the game forums for a couple weeks, though.

You mean like every other Bethesda game before the mod community makes it playable?
i dont mind the vanilla games too much...

but this, if the game sucks, the mods wont, they will turn it inside out and shit sparkly muffins all over it to turn it into awesome sauce.

Even if it suddenly turned out that they lied about all the changes and unique features and the gameplay is exactly as in Oblivion, and all the preview versions were only created for the purpose of deception but will never get released, just to piss everyone off, it still wouldn't be awful, but atmospheric and enjoyable. Too bad, huh.

What up with the hate for Bethesda? I liked Morrowind, but I also liked Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas. My only problem with Vegas was that it crashed a bit too often and monsters often got stuck in the ground. Skyrim looks like it's going to be great.

What if I die before I get to play the game? What if it was all just a cruel joke? What if it's the best thing I've ever played?

So many questions. I guess I'll just have to wait for a few weeks to get the answer to at least one of them.

Being a Bethesda game, here's the fool proof way to ensure that you get a golden gaming experience: Buy something else-LET ME FINISH-which you can sink the next two or three months into, after that pick up your copy of Skyrim, install all the new bug fixing patches, a few community mods which improve various gameplay aspects and then sit down with a fully charged... ... mouse and be prepared to say bye bye to the next six months.

Wait 2 months, apply mods, profit. Unless there are no modding tools....in which case dance and say I told you so! It isn't a game I am very interested in buying unless it gets a very active modding community like the last few. And only then if I friend will point out a really great make ai not shit / combat not shit / bug fix mod or something.

Impossible. The mod community will fix any problems that it has. If you own it for console, well, that sucks for you.
Actually Bethesda says they want to put mods on the console.
Really? That sounds super then. I always felt it sucked that console players couldn't access mods. I have friends who own several of the games in the past and often complain about things that were so easily fixed on PC.
