What is in the basement?

So recently I came across a thread that was some new person trying to make a first post. Most of the replies were not to go in the basement! So my question to you fellow escapies...escapists, is what is in the basement? And why is it so terrible.

As for me: I'm pretty sure it's Cthulu and maybe a meth lab. Does that really need explaining why not to go down there? You might get addicted to the meth and then have to pay your life savings for some more.

OT: Sounds to me like everything that was to inappropriate for the forums gets dumped there. Like 4chan left overs.

Part way down the staircase is the door to the Religion and Politics forum, so you have to tread with caution around there.

It's an Escapist version of a meme that has had multiple containment for a while.

There are people who say that's where Mods keep the corpses of the banned.

There were others before who claimed that's where MaxtheReaper kept the Corpses of those he tortured and left down there for him to be devoured (Okay, so maybe I added that last part, but it fits with his character =P)

and of course, there are others that claim its where the Editors keep their pool table. I'm guessing it's the third option. Except they also have a ping-pong table....and John Funk is the current reigning champion, but I hear Susan is a close competitor.

It's THE BASEMENT of the escapist. When people welcome newbs to the escapist it seems they always say, Welcome don't go into the basement, or something along those lines. So I was wondering what everyone thought was actually down there. BTW suki, Meow...
