What is minecraft missing

All joking aside, Minecraft needs a learning curve. It was incredibly aggravating to constantly die time after time and then go searching for where my body dropped all my items, give up, go back to tree punching, dig to the center of the earth, and die in a pit of lava with all my diamonds on hand.

Third person view. It sounds like a lot to ask for and really, who would want to see the blocky back to their character? But Minecraft in FPS mode makes me extremely dizzy. DOOM dizzy. I believe if the thing was put in third person, and a little bit of work was some with the camera, this would solve the issue.

I know it's been said to death, but Minecraft needs a tutorial.

I think it would also be cool if you found ruins of buildings left behind by another adventurer.

This really irks me. THERE IS A TUTORIAL. He has four help videos in the 'Help' tab.

And in INDEV, you could actually find a massive brick temple, but he got rid of it.

OP there's one problem with selling Minecraft in a box...it's not a completed game, it's in BETA which would be a difficult thing to sell I imagine.

OT: More iron spawns, I'd like to make use of the tracks but with the resources it takes why the hell would I ever use anything on that? Maybe that's just me being a big sissy and not wanting to hop into pitch black caves for fear of:

Well, not just lava deaths, but those are the most irritating because they burn up all your items.

Uh, I would be wary with the "more mobs" comment. Might I suggest you take a look at Rob Moran's Series "Super Minecraft"?

I think I should have specified, the problem with that mod is the Mob Density, not the variety. I want more Variety.

Well this isn't really the place for suggestions, there's an entire section for suggestions on the Minecraft forum that's getting flooded with great ideas.

Personally I'd like to see these;
- Bug free SMP
- Beacons (waypoints)
- Mounts
- Warp pads
- Bounce pads
- Speed pads
- Regular and combination locks
- More materials and crafting options
- More balanced and easy way of creating dyes
- Clothing with more function (eg, running shoes)

Well, again though, you run the risk of making a good game perhaps a bit too ridiculous. Take the mining zombies. That would ruin a lot of the fun of minecraft if the zombies could tunnel into your home.

Goto 'RUN' in windows.
type %appdata% and hit enter.
select '.minecraft'
Folder is saves.
Copy or cut the name of your world.
Paste into your safe space (USB drive, backup, your mom, etc).

When computer fails:
Same again, but paste backup into the 'saves' folder.
Fap to the glory of my ass.

Erm, yeah: what that guy on the first page said about RPG elements. Not like quests and stuff, but an economic system as suggested would be nice. As others have said, a way to quickly get around, the ability to set your spawn point at will, some sort of goals system (although FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST don't tag arbitrary points onto them like gamerscore), some way to tell if you're getting near to ore (a craftable metal detector, perhaps)... yeah, that's about all.
