Due to all the youtube dumping on this thread I thought it wouldn't hurt to add a bit relevance:

Swag is basically accomplishing difficult things while making it look really easy.

Passing a uber hard test without studying? SWAG.

Winning a fight with little energy used? SWAG.

Getting a girls number within 30 seconds? SWAG.

Dunno, let me ask Swagneto...

I think it's basically being very charismatic with little effort.
Magneto's got swag, man. He makes this good girl wanna go bad. So bad...

... I mean, yeah. Magneto is cool. I wish that outfit made it into UMvC3. Totally a good example. Heh, Swagneto, so punny. *ahem*

OT: I think it's short for swagger, but has evolved into a word for how cool someone is. Someone who has swag is someone who presents him/herself as being so cool.

Swag has several meanings.

Primarily swag meant loot or treasure that you aquired without payment or exchange. Usually items rather than hard currency that nevertheless held significant value. For instance pirates are often characterised as reffering to their ill-gotten-gains as swag. These days the word is often used to describe items given away during promotions or as free gifts.

In addition it is sometimes incorrectly used to describe a cocky or self assured attitude, usually but not exclusivley on the part of a young person.
