what is the best assault rifle?

ive always heard the debate between the AK-47 vs the M-16A2, but a freind of mine recently brought up the fact that he thinks the G-36 is the best assault rifle ever made. this made me think that the M-16 and the AK-47 arent the only ones on the market and maybe not the best. so i ask you all, if you had to go into battle what assault rifle would you want?

"Best"? Difficult to define. However overall I would have to say the AK-47. Or maybe one of the later AK designs like the AK-103; I don't know much about them.

I don't know. It depends on whether i'll have half-decent field support. If no,then obviously AK-47. There never was an assault rifle more reliable. If yes,then probably G-36.

i made an account purley to answer this, so here it goes
The T.A.R : tavor assult rifle. It origanated in israel. It has a bullpud desighn and is far more reliable than the M-16. It can fire up to 900 rounds per minute. It uses the same rounds as the M-16 (5.56x45mm NATO). It can be fired on semi or fully auto. It is more accurate than the M4(so oviously the ak-47 aswell_ Its major disedvantage is that it cost 3 time the amount to build than an M-16. But if i went to war, id want to go with one of those

AK47 is undoubtably the most reliable, personally I like the SA80, partly beacuse i've had the opertunity to fire one

I really doubt the AK-47 is the best. Im no gun expert, but I do know the AK47 is a relic and is like comparing NES to a current system. Sure its more loved maybe, but better? Gamers just have a massive hard-on for it I think.
