So, this topic is pretty self explanatory. Anyway, what is the best single-player game you have ever played ever. I'm pretty sure mine would be Fallout 3, as I have about 85 hours on my play-through and still have not been to every location, gotten every unique weapon, every bobble-head so technically (from a rabid completionist's standpoint) I have not truly beaten it. Leave your personal choice along with the reason why.

In terms of how magical my experience was: Bioshock (Yes, I even loved the cheesy ending, SHUT IT)
Replay value: Silent Hill 2 (Always find something new because of that damn fog)

Of course, this is all personal opinion.

Ah yes, forgot about Bioshock, for some reason the first one and the second one's Borderline mediocrity always runs together. That and I was extremely sick when I played through it so I associate it with that for some reason.

I like to pretend that that the 2nd game does not exist T-T

Huh this is a hard one. I would probably have to say bioshock since thats whats on my mind right now but I may change my answer later since there are so many good singleplayers out there.

Portal wasn't bad.
But the prize goes to the first Halo for me. First time I really gotten this deep into the story, it made me buy the books, get the DVD, etc. For me, this game is what games should be, a strong single player and good multiplayer (I only got to play the multiplayer once on a LAN party, and trough XBconnect when that worked, but it's the only game who's singleplayer I replayed dozens of times)

I'd have to say that my top single-player game would have to be Chrono Trigger; it's very well written, does time travel extremely well, and it's interesting enough to make me want to keep going back to play it over and over again. I'd have to say in terms of content and length though, Oblivion would be a good choice. It's packed with so much into it, it'll keep you going for hours on end.

Well...
That is one hard question.

I doubt I could name only one though.

* Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
* Portal
* Final Fantasy IX
* Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind

That should represent a few genres at least.
Can't do fewer than that to be honest.

Oh, and also GTA 3: San Andreas.
And Pokemon Red/Blue.

Super Metroid, if you ask me.

Think Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, with aliens and a lady in powered armor. There's so much more to it, but that's the easiest way to describe the game...

What about New Vegas? I liked Fallout 3, but I liked New Vegas even more.

My personal favorite SP game is still Planescape: Torment.

I don't know, I've always been a huge Fallout fan, but to me New Vegas was a disgrace. Nearly everything it had in it's favor could be gotten and improved on with mods for the PC version of Fallout 3, also with less glitches.

DAMN IT

I was going to be all cool and original and say Oblivion because I've put a hundred or two (or 3) hours into it and that summoning was the most fantastic skill I've ever seen in a game!

Agh! I'm a conformist now!

As usual in these sorts of threads, I'm going to say Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn.

I haven't played another RPG that combines everything to result in such a great experience as this one. The plot, the characters and the voice acting are all fantastic, and really help get you emotionally invested in what's going on. The gameplay is refined and improved over its predecessor, and the tactical combat is a lot of fun. There are a mind-boggling number of side quests, particularly when you factor in Watcher's Keep, a bonus dungeon added by the expansion pack. And the game is gorgeous; even now, 11 years since release, it still looks fantastic.

It's available on GOG now, so if you like RPGs and haven't played it, there's really no reason not to.

Maybe if the game didn't have a million and one bugs that shouldn't exist. I hate how bethesda (and whoever the hell they were working with for NV) gets away with releasing a clearly unfinished product and then they don't bother putting the effort to fix any problem with the game. In FactI was playing New Vegas the other day and Ed-E went into a wall in vault 22. So I said screw it and left him there because I only wanted his perk and didnt have a recent save where I knew whwere he was. Then after purchasing the 'Honest Hearts' DLC I find out that I cannot do it because it still says I have Ed-E as a companion and what is the only way to fix this problem you might ask? By purchasing the 'Dead Money' DLC which provides a ONE TIME companion reset. Really?
