Beating DMC3 on all difficulties, now that was almost 'Nintendo hard'.

Titan mode on God of War 2. Some of the bosses and the path to Clotho were a *****.

Can't believe no-one else has mentioned GoW. I actually found the first one on God mode harder than the second on Titan. God knows how long I fought the last boss for, (can't think of his freaking name right now) but I got him in the end. For both though, you really have to learn -exactly- what every enemy does just before they attack and how to counter it.

Maybe this will qualify, but I personally thought finishing Gears of War 2 on the most insane difficulty level available (solo) was quite something. Once I learned that if I so much as showed a nosehair out of cover at any point, I'd be shot down before I knew where I was...

Another thing, not really hard or even skillful, it was all down to pure luck but in Half-Life 2, in the scene where Alyx is charging up a portal to escape through while you have to fend off the combine. One of the combine soldiers lobbed a grenade in and I managed to run into just where it had landed. I knew it was about to go off so needed to get rid of it fast. I had the shotgun equipped so just shot at the grenade with that. Somewhat conveniently, it not only bounced away from but right into the path of some more combine

Beat Ozma and Necron in FF9 at level 1. Wasn't hard just annoyingly repetitive but still impressive.

A'ing Rhythm and Police in DDR on double heavy mode.

Wrenching a Big Daddy to death in Bioshock. Also not hard just really annoying.

Fending off a terror attack of Mutons at X-Com: UFO Defense with a group of fresh (and considering the enemy terribly underarmed) troops. I expected yet another Snakemen-assault, so the game caught me off guard with the Mutons.

Kinda a tough question, but I'd have to say 5 starring Through the Fire and the Flames on guitar hero. Either that or downing Illidan back in BC with the old guildies, I miss you guys!!

I got through the mine on Star Trek the Next Generation: Echoes From the Past on my Sega Genesis. It is ridiculous how complex that maze it, and I eventually beat it by finding a map on the internet. The worst part is that you have to go back and do it again to beat the game. It's INSANE!

I also managed to beat Operation Flashpoint's NATO and Resistance campaigns. Those are pretty tough.

of recent games the only thing i can think of is the Mile High Club achievement on COD:4... althought i have done it for 4 friends and then myself so its easy to do now.. but the first time you get it... oh my god!
