What is wrong with The Jersey Shore?

I happen to like Jersey Shore because I think idiots are funny, but in case of emergency I have a prepared rant to answer with.

Jersey Shore is a television show featuring several adults who supposedly personify the "guido" culture. The word guido was originally used half as a slur and half as a term to describe working class Italian-Americans. The term is very rarely used in its original context anymore and now describes the kind of people Jersey Shore follows, i.e. self-absorbed loud-mouths concerned only with self-indulgence and fake tans (and I assure you, that is all they are after). I won't go on to insult their IQ or some other arbitrary statistic, but I will tell you that they lack any form of common sense. It's like peering into a black pit of idiocy with no bottom. Over the course of three seasons, I've seen them start fights in clubs, get drunk to the point of arrest, counsel one of the cast members who had a "drinking problem" that lasted all of three days, and sleep with anyone in the immediate vicinity. They don't embody any type of culture anyone in the USA should want to identify with; they embody Hedonistic tendencies we should want to shy away from.

Why you gotta pick on the black pit of idiocy? What about the white pit of idiocy?

What's so wrong with hedonism and why do you automatically associate it with these morons? Not like they're having good sex anyway...

Take note, America. Your TV shows are your first ambassadors to other countries. This is why so many people around the world have the opinions about the US that they do. I think this reputation is mostly undeserved, by the way, but shows like Jersey Shore are not going to help.

What wrong with the show beyond Snooki always being a cocktease? She's the only reason I gave the show any credence, if only I had dreams of screwing a 4'9" quasi-midget who had nice (relative) breasts. At the same time she is a Paris Hilton wannabe and as such, is less than 5 feet tall. Such premonitions of stardoms at that point, especially for being on MTV, relegate her potential to Bangbus and...MTV. The biggest problem I have in fantasizing about her is not her that she's an obviously over-easy wench that gets wet on command, oh no, my morals are not so loose in terms of fantasizing, but that she would be the kind of girl that likes getting tag-teamed". I hate fucking hate multiplayer games. Deal breaker right there for Jersey Shore.

So her envy for Paris Hilton has made her shrink? And she had precognitive dreams of "stardoms" but is the fortune-teller class so in the MTV world she has to be a porn star?

Sorry if your group experiences were not all that great. I've been propositioned by a couple, and I said no for this very reason

The only thing I know about it is that a lot of people find it terrible for some reason. I'm Dutch, so I don't know anything about it. Nor do I want to.

It's Trash TV, there's not much else to it.

Even Holland has it's own Jersey Shore in the form of Oh, oh, Tirol and many others. The reason shows like these are popular is because they're so revolting. You're basically watching a freakshow of trashy, disgusting people.

I'm sure it is a misrepresentation of New Jersey. Just like a show we have over here in the UK - The Only Way is Essex - is a misrepresentation of Essex. Both shows are extremely similar and make me hate things.
