Well there's the portal games, excellent first person puzzlers with great humor.

Then one of my favourites is the Kingdom Hearts series. I've played 1, 2, chain of memoriesGBA, birth by sleep, and 358 days. 2 was my favourite, but every game has something about it i love that isn't in the other games (except chain of memories, which was my least favourite out of them all)

and then there's also the "Ratchet and Clank" and "Sly" series, both with great platforming (and the former a great shooter) with plenty of humor and enjoyable gameplay.

The Jak and Daxter series, with out a doubt the top game series from my child hood. In fact, I only have a Ps2 so I can play them, well those games and Battlefront 2
didnt they just bring a jack and daxter hd collection out ?
Yeah, it comes out some time in March. I shall be buying it, I am willing to throw my money at the HD Collection's. Three fantastic games at the price of one is always welcome, I'll be getting MGS and DMC as well. Shall bring back some great memories

Legacy of Kain.

If you like intriguing and complicated plot that would make you go "WHAT?" (not as in "What the heck is that I'm seeing?" but rather "What? This just blew my mind and I'm left speechless.") as it unfolds. Also features some time travelling back and forth to spice things a bit. Who manipulates who and why would be the main questions.

The order of the games is:
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2
Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 (it's possible to skip this - it's not really good and the little plot of it that matters, you can find somewhere else.)
Legacy of Kain: Defiance

Sadly, it seems the series wouldn't get an conclusion - Defiance came out in 2004 and no sequel has been hinted at so far (actually one was developed, but it was scrapped at some point). Furthermore, Tony Jay, one of the lead voice actors (also, Megabyte from ReBoot) passed away several years ago (Mainframe will miss you, buddy). To add to that, Amy Henning, the writer for LoK, left CD and did Uncharted. Things are looking grim for the future of LoK but technically, it's still not hopeless.
Amazing games. Defiance was definitely the weakest one I felt, so I am a bit worried as to how it'd go if it kept going on. Well, aside from Blood Omen 2 but that's just bleh.
I still watch playthroughs of these every so often because the story, writing, and acting are just so damn good.
By the way, I thought Defiance was a fitting enough ending myself. I'd be a bit afraid for the series to get picked up again. I've had too many of my favorite series get ruined to trust them to continue after a long hiatus and with new writers. Also, no dice to recasting Tony Jay. I forbid it.

Prince of Persia. Played the original platformer and all the following games except one where they changed the graphical look. Not sure of the name of the one I didn't play or if anybody played and enjoyed it?
Sands of Time
Warrior Within
The Two Thrones
Forgotten Sands

Jak and Daxter is a great game, it is something a little more wacky and crazy, for the first game, the next two, Jak 2 and Jak 3 are a little more mature then the first one, but still keep that same tone and humor. The HD remake came out and I say rent it and look for yourself.

I can't really choose a series since every series of games I liked at least had one I didn't but if I was pressed I'd probably go with the Paper Mario and The Hitman Series.

I am shocked and dismayed at how little love the Legacy of Kain series gets, myself.

Where is the Kain love?! Those games still stand today as quite possibly the best triumphs of storytelling in this medium! Go play them, people!

Legacy of Kain, Neverwinter Nights and The Elder Scrolls games, with Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Fallout coming close behind - yes, I'm an RPG fan, so sue me.

Mine would be a toss up between Mario and Dead Rising. Followed by Metal Gear Solid and Dynasty Warriors.

Rock Band - A short series, but one of fantastic quality all the way through.

Legend of Zelda - Not every game is a gem, but they are among the most reliable series ever. In order of personal preference:

1) A link to the Past (SNES)
2) Wind Waker (Cube)
3) Zelda 2: Adventures of Link (NES)
4) Ocarina of Time (N64)
5) Twilight Princess (Wii)
6) Minish Cap (DS)

Final Fantasy - Much like Zelda, not every game is a gem. I often don't care for the story either, and yet I love the gaming experience. In order of personal preference:

1) FF 6
2) FF 4
3) FF 12
4) FF 13
5) FF 1
6) FF 10
7) FF 7

Note: Games not listed in the above lists are either ones I've never played (Example FF9, FF 13-2) or simply ones I didn't like (Example: Original Legend of Zelda (NES)).

I guess that would be Legend of Zelda and Professor Lyton since those two are the only series that I keep on buying.

I've said Zelda too many times so I'll just throw out one of my favourites. Soul Calibur!

But doesn't that have Link in it? SHUT UP!

... Anyway, Soul Calibur is really fun. Its about a bunch of characters fighting each other with swords. It has a nice variation of characters, the combat was ground breaking when it first came out and they constantly improve the character creation modes with each new game. It also has a decent learning curve to it but I find it more accessible than Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.

Thats all I can think about. If thats not interesting enough then how about this? Soul Calibur IV has an armor breaking gimic in it. And theres this character called Cassandra who uses her ass as a fatility type move. Sex sells for most people. But now she isn't in Soul Calibur V. :( .... Oh, Ivys a sex symbol in it as well. ..... I'm sorry for focusing on this too much. Maybe its because I just hate Chun Li from Street Fighter.

But yeah Soul Calibur games, they're fun, they're fast, they use guest characters a lot, but in my opinion: Ezio > Star Wars characters

Okay I'll stop being such a drooling fanboy now. :D

In no particular order:
Mass Effect, Half Life, Warcraft including WoW and Grand Theft Auto...these combined pretty much make up the bulk of my gaming time over the last 15 years.
