You know it changes day-to-day but Kid A by Radiohead, Hospice by The Antlers, or The XX by The XX tends to be up there.

Hmmm... It's a tough choice. If soundtracks count, then it's the Pulp Fiction soundrack. If not, then any of Sinatra's albums.

EDIT:

That's another good one... decisions are difficult.

(Yes, I have extremely varied tastes in music)

My favorite album changes sporadically, because I love so many different types of music, but lately it's been Calculating Infinity, by The Dillinger Escape Plan

Music with lyrics? I'd have to go with LP as well. most of my preffered music is in gaming and anime, As I prefer lyric-less music.
Do you mean lyric-less as in classical or lyric-less as in electronica (the ones that don't have lyrics)?

OP: About Linkin Park, while I don't know Linkin Park extremely well I do know them (obviously not personally but you know what I mean) and so while I'm not sure whether I like their old stuff better or not, I do know I hate it when they try to rap. I like rap, when it comes from rap artists. Linkin Park are not rappers. They should stick to what they know, rock/metal music.
As for my favourite albums, I'm ashamed to say I don't own any of these classics.
However, out of what I do know and own, these are my favourite albums:
So many good songs, but I'll go for this one:
This was in GTA IV, it seems as if a lot of people looked it up but never looked up any more of their music. A lot of their best songs aren't on Youtube, it seems only 3 of their songs from their only album is on youtube. This is a good one though.
I own Bleach, Nevermind and In Utero and while the others are pretty good there's a reason Nevermind is a classic. Since everyone knows SLTS, have this:
One of the best electronica songs ever.
Even my metalhead dad likes this album.

Jeeez, I hope someone actually reads this I've spent so much time putting all this in. SOMEBODY ENJOY IT, PLEASE! :p

Hmm if I had to pick my favorite album ever I guess it would be between...
For the Fallen Dreams-Relentless
<youtube=JR5IF7ILreU>
and Miss May I- Apologies are for the Weak.
<youtube=D8yoPQ22LW0&playnext=1&list=PLFD3CEF94B6466759>

I listened to both of these albums just... so much.

Probably something like this.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (1975)
My favorite album, by far. I think this is the Floyd album that got it all right. The composition and everything just comes together perfectly. All tracks are fantastic.
Much better than Dark Side of the Moon, and The Wall, with more personal and relatable themes, more even tops and lows, and overall, it's just more down to Earth, with a higher musical quality. (Doesn't mean those two are bad, but this is better.)
Honorable mention goes to Animals, that is almost as good.

Radiohead - Kid A (2000)
I can never decide if this or OK Computer is the best, I think it goes in periods. Right now I love Kid A over OK Computer, though.
This one is actually quite special, at first I hated it, and was greatly disappointed by it. Everything sounded like a complete hysterical mess, but something about it just struck me as being so interesting. So I continued listening, getting to like more tracks all the time, and now I can't understand how I could ever have disliked it.
The album just has so much character, it's very dark, twisted and mystical, which I just love.

David Bowie - Low (1977)
You know, David Bowie has made so many great and equal albums, that I already kind of regret putting this here, but on the other hand, this is probably the one I come back to, and declare my favorite, the most.
It's a very special album in that I can't really point out a single track that stands out as being particularly better than any other. It's just a case of everything coming together to form a whole. It's probably the best Bowie album, probably.

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)
This one is mandatory, I guess.
There's really not much to say, that hasn't already been said.

mostly classical, by large I don't like electronica much, though there are some that I like, generally when it's mixed with instruments instead of in-my-face electronica. Rock music is the only music I like that is mainstream, I much prefer lyricless rock music though. I also like chanting music, such as
My favourite instruments being the piano and violin doesn't help much outside games, old music and anime.

Hard to choose, but I think it'd be either OK Computer by Radiohead, Deloused in the Comatorium by the Mars Volta or The Empyrean by John Frusciante.

Radiohead - In Rainbows

I never really listened to music until I came across this album and it blew me away. It manages to be so warm but still dark and every single song on the album is not just good, they are all amazing.

I don't think compilation soundtracks should count, since someone basically selected all that music very intentionally for effect. For me, the criteria of "best album" requires that the entire album be created by a single band/artist.

In that vein, I'd say "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath and "Scenes from a Memory" by Dream Theater are my two favorites.

Aenima by Tool is probably the album most important in shaping my listening tastes, my current favorite is the new Fleet Foxes album Helplessness Blues which owns anything on the radio these days, but my overall favorite is probably Superunknown by Soundgarden. There are so many interesting ideas on it, all the musicians are at the top of their game, and the vocals are just absolutely face-melting on every second of every track.

I totes agree with you on this. I love Dark Side, but this is more focused, more relatable, more professional-sounding but still trippy. It has all the craziness but more humanity, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond is simply stunning from beginning to end.

for me it really depends on whether your talking about the whole album as one musical experience listened to from begining to end or just how good all of the songs on the album are seperately.

if the former i'd go with
Danger Days - The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys by My Chemical Romance
or
LOL by Basshunter

if the latter
The Great Burrito Extortion Case by Bowling For Soup
or
¡Viva la Cobra! by Cobra Starship
