I thought it was time we made more time for my favourite video game system, generation, and library of all time.

Also, if it's too hard to mention a single favourite, please do make a top 5 or top 10 or something like that. Top 20, if you need, even.

Mine's Chrono Trigger. But I really love just about every game in the library. Among other favourites I would list Earthbound, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Doneky Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Final Fantasy VI, Kirby Super Star, and enough for me to struggle to make a top 10 instead of a top 20.

But I'd like to hear your rankings and favourites(rather, I just want an excuse to talk about the Super Nintendo again).

Uhh... if memory serves, it was called Rock and Roll Racing. Think Mario Kart with an isometric view and less cartoonish visual style.

To be honest, I can barely remember any games from back then. My old favourites have long since been replaced by much more recent stuff.

The most fun on the SNES I had was playing "The Chaos Engine"
Sure, it was simple run-and-gun, but, really, it's the SNES, how much simpler do you want?

then again, I was like, 5 the first time I played the thing... although I want to play it now....

brb....

Yeah, Yoshi's Island was also epic... I loved every minute of it...

Lufia II.
All Donkey Kong Country games.
Yoshi's Island.
Super Mario World.
Tales of Phantasia.
Donald in Maui Mallard

It's hard to pick out the best of those, but they were all pretty good. There were also some good Disney games such as Mickey Magical Quest, Lion King and Aladdin. Things were so much easier back then. Young and naive days most likely made games seem better than they actually were.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time. I loved beat'em ups as a kid and this was the king of them. I probably beat the game over 500 times.

This thread reminds me, which Street Fighter from the SNES era was considered the 'best'? A friend from high school says it's Alpha 2 but I remember being a little person and loving the original SF2.

Anyway, my person top 5 (since that seems to be the emerging trend) is going to be a cop-out because I'm just posting 5 loved games for the SNES.

Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
Donkey Kong Country
Star Fox

My original SNES was lost to the tides of time but I was actually given another by my Dad about 8 or 9 months after buying one which turned out to be prettier than his anyway. Anyway, with my new SNES comes games I've bought within the past year so I'll put up a top 5 of those, also in no particular order:

Final Fantasy III (VI)
Illusion of Gaia (haven't got very far in it yet)
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers
Batman Returns
Super Mario World

The first Mega Man X, by far. I honestly don't think any later game in the X series has matched the the feeling the original gave me. It's the only one I've gone out of my way to replay.

Final Fantasy IV comes in at a close second. Probably my favorite RPG of all time.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is my number one top title for both the SNES and all time. On the SNES console specifically (and quite possibly overall) in second place is the Illusion of Gaia. Two great games that I suggest everyone should play.

I don't think super mario all stars would count, since they are remakes of NES games...

So I will go with chrono trigger.

For me i'm going to say 5 games and the reasons:

-Chrono Trigger - That game touched my adventurous side. I remember so well travelling through time to save the world countless times. My favourite characters were Frog, Magus and Robo, cuz they had traits of what i considered myself to be. A Honorous hero, with a dark sense of the world, and yet protective to others (in the respective order).

-Illusion of Gaia - Dam oh dam i had fun with this game, to be a great knight or even a mystic creature that saves the world has we know it. It's a must play!!

-Final Fantasy IV (VI) - I loved the humour, the characters, the setting, the steampunkish feel... heck, i loved that game in all sense of the word.

-Megaman X series - I felt like the story was better, the game teached you how to play it, i didn't just gave a long list of how to play it. Everything you did, was through logic and perception, i love that game, the mechanics of it, the design of the world and enemies. This game is forever bound into my heart!!

-Terranigma - Now this is a really underrated game. You follow the events of a heavy story, that will lead you through the origin of everything and evolution of humankind. The gameplay was masterfull, the story heart-breaking and heavy, the events meaningfull, and the ending... oh god the ending... it's a great story having a beggining, a middle and a end, it's everything i could ever wish on a game, i loved it till it's very core, Terranigma for me is the best SNES games. Sure i liked Legend of Zelda and Super Metroid and Star Fox, but for me... Terranigma all the way. This game touched my heart, nad has i was at the end of everything, at the brink of oblivion i fought and won, and in the end... i was free.

Honour Mentions:

-Super Metroid - I liked the game but never got that crazy about it. It's... nice i guess.
-Castlevania - I used to love the enemies in this...
-Star Fox - Spent a really huge part of my cildhood doign barrel rolls... loved it!!
-Legend of Zelda: Link to the past - The very first game i finished with EVERYTHING. Every little secret uncovered. LOVED IT!!!
-Super Mario - Riding Yoshi and using the cape to fly... what's not to love? xD
-Breath of Fire - Loved this game and finished it a couple of times...
-Secret of Mana (the one with the werewolf character) - SO... FREAKING... EPIC!!!
-Contra - DIE ALIE! DIE!!!
-The Lost Vikings 2 - The first Snes game i ever played, and the first to really get me into SNES games. This game for me is a classic!!! :D

Soul Blazer.
You might remember it if you were a fan of Chrono Trigger and those Zelda-ish games.
Actually, I think I may have liked Act Raiser more. It was like a Fantasy style sim city with action-platforming sections.
Also, I may have gotten those names switched around.
I'll check, I have them both in my phone now.

It is a crime that this game never makes anyone's best of SNES list.
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
It is seriously the best compilation of the Mario Universe in terms of character interaction and has a lot of humor.
