Actually, Max Payne 3 gave me a huge headache. Stupid 'art' style, screen flickering, so much headache.
Would you say it gave your head MAX PAIN. Hahahahaha okay I'll be quiet now.

OT: I'm really not sure what games came out this year that I have. I guess I'll go with borderlands 2 or xcom for breaking the mold, though I confess I haven't played either of them extensively yet.

Dishonored
Mass Effect 3
Diablo 3(Yea I said it!)
Darksiders 2

Those are a few games that I've enjoyed the most this year.

Definitely Spec ops: the line and then in joint second place we have Dishono(u)red, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Dragons Dogma.

Spec ops deserves it, try's something new and pulls it off superbly and I doubt I'll ever forget it. The problem with all my second places is they all have a flaw, DH has a shit story but an amazing everything else. Final fantasy's awesome and it's nice to have it back on form, best FF in awhile, but I see it as Square experimenting and not a proper game and Dragons Dogma is amazballs but it's too big and travelling can get tedious, it'd be nice if we could have a horse, or a griffin and maybe more places to visit and maybe a home base that isn't an inn.

Resident Evil Revelations, That was one of my favorite games that I played this year.
Then probably Borderlands 2, Mass Effect 3, or Spec Ops: The Line.

Mass Effect 3.

Gotta admit I was pleasantly surprised to see that a number of people named it already on the first page alone. Nice to see that not everyone was slitting their wrists over that game. If you ask me, the EC successfully tied together the ending, and the Leviathan DLC was really neat.

Edit: P.S. I'm really hoping that Assassin's Creed III turns out better than Revelations. I'm hoping even more that they at least got rid of that pain-in-the-ass tower defense game. Just a bullshit waste of time, and the only true motivation to train your minions up to Master status just so their tower couldn't get attacked anymore.

Not sure whether it would be Mass Effect 3 or Dishonoured, hard to choose though. Pre DLC fixed ME3 ending was awful and Dishonoured is a little on the short side.

Spec Ops: The line without a doubt.
Although I've spent more time playing DayZ than anything else so when the standalone comes out it'll probably be that. Really enjoyed Endless Space as well though.
Mass Effect 3 was fun, but I honestly forgot about it until I read the other posts so I guess that says something.

Mass Effect 3. For all its warts, still one of the finest games I've played.

I haven't played Dishonored yet, however, and Borderlands doesn't interest me at all.

Haven't looked into Dishonored yet, but I'll add to the votes for either ME3, or Spec Ops: the Line.

Hm. Probably The Binding of Isaac: Wrath of the Lamb, considering how much I played that. Then again, Torchlight 2 is catching up in these recent weeks...

Isn't it kind of pathetic that many people only seem to be mentioning games that game out in the last few months/weeks? Resident Evil 6? Spec Ops: The Line? Mass Effect 3?

You don't think Diablo 3 was good? (I didn't but I'm sure some people might) What about Journey, don't people think that game's a work of art or something? SSX remains the best sports game series in creation, no? How about the release of Minecraft? Don't people think The Walking Dead is the last word in casual gamer dope? Sleeping dogs?
Spec-Ops: The Line came out in like June. ME3 came out in March (which was before Diablo 3).

And for the record, I thought Diablo 3 was atrocious. To the tune of I didn't even finish the campaign once, because I hated it that much. Worst $60 I've ever spent.

It's a toss up between Dishonored, Borderlands 2, and Spec Ops: The Line. Sleeping Dogs was also good, but in my eyes, it's not GOTY worthy. The rest of the games were "meh" to me.

Edit: Nevermind. Borderlands 2 wins for me. As much as I love Dishonored, Borderlands 2 was something else.

Probably either Mass Effect 3 or Dishonored. I put so many hours into the former and enjoyed them all, but the fewer hours in the latter were also absolutely amazing. Shear quantity isn't a substitute for quality and both completely succeed in straight up quality. Damn good games, I don't know if I'm able to choose.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the Walking Dead episodes. Almost peerless in making me care so much about characters in such a short amount of time. Almost.

Mass Effect 3 came out 7 months ago.

Either way, I don't gauge my enjoyment of a game based on how recently I've played it, otherwise how in the hell is the original Legend of Zelda from 1986 one of my favorite games of all time?

Dishonored, by far. That game is utterly fantastic, though Borderlands 2 is quite enjoyable as well.
