For me it's gotta' be Spec Ops: The Line, one of the best narratives I've seen in a game.

Well, I don't actually know what game I'm gonna pick. The selection of games this year have been somewhat limited, and pretty much no games this year have actually blown me off my chair. Most of them have been pretty decent, nothing more than that. But if I have to pick a game, (That was actually made THIS year, no HD, ports and so on) my vote will go to Shootmania Storm. It's the only game this year that I've played more than about 50+ hours.

Damn, so many Spec Ops: The Line from a lot of people. I should really get it.

I've only played a couple of games this year.

Mass Effect 3
Darksiders II
Persona 4 Arena
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance
The Walking Dead
Resident Evil 6

And out of all of those, Mass Effect 3 and the Walking Dead are the best. Assassin's Creed 3 is in a couple of days though, so who knows. Still playing Resident Evil 6 though.

Probably Spec Ops. If anything because I want to live in a world where Spec Ops gets a GotY nod. Talk about having balls of steel.

I don't really know yet; I haven't played Dishourned, and that looks really good. So my answer at the moment would be Mass Effect 3. Its got a great story, good gameplay, excellent writing, and a fun multiplayer too.

Looking forward to Halo 4, however I seriously doubt it will be good enough to my me consider it GOTY.

I can't really answer this question, as I have not tried Dishonoured.
Specs Ops: The Line. Actually, I don't buy into a couple of things being said about this game and I am going to say that it's not that good. It just shines the light of thousand suns in comparison to your usual - whatstheterm? - bro-shooter.

I will answer the hypothetical question for BestBuyOfTheYear and this has to be Guild Wars 2.

FTL: Faster Than Light. Mostly because it's been a baaaaaaad year for money, so I haven't tried lots of games I want to try.

Tie between Borderlands 2 and Dust: An elysian Tail.

I would really say ME3 co-op, but recently with the changes I get more frustrated. They really balanced the game around the new classes they made, leaving the classes I loved to be neglected. That and they made the game way harder and I just don't enjoy it as much.

The snipers I loved are just no longer as effective since the tac cloak nerf. Enemies have more health. I used to run silver and be able to carry the team, but now I have a hard time keeping up with others.

Spec Ops: The Line. A game has never moved me as much since the first time I played Silent Hill 2. It's hard to understand what makes it so amazing unless you've played it, but when you do play it...
I hope that Spec Ops gets all of the praise it deserves, and I can easily see it going down as one of those instant classics that will be remembered for generations to come.

Spec Ops: The Line no doubt. Wasn't necessarily the game I enjoyed the most this year, but when you combine the fact that it had a plot that would shine in any medium, with being a tight video game, with the way it took advantage of the videogame medium to make the player complicit in the action, with the relevance of the story and setting...Then there was also the way it toyed with the expectations set up by the familiar shooter mechanics, and the expectations set up by the "Heart of Darkness" parallels - plenty of games have a "gotcha!" twist, but IMO this game genuinely subverted expectations. Well, all this kind of puts it on a different level than most other games, even most other well-made games.

Mass Effect 3 for me. I may put Dishonoured up there if I get around to playing it, as well as Halo 4 and Assassin's Creed 3 once they're released.

So far it is SSX.
I've been enjoying Torchlight 2 and Dishonoured so far but I haven't finished them yet so I can't judge them yet.
The only other 2012 releases I've played have been Diablo 3, which was an alright game, not as bad as many said it was and They Bleed Pixels which I find too hard. (I'm rubbish at platormers anyway.)

Mass Effect 3 or Max Payne 3 probably, but honestly i wouldnt call any of the games this year GOTY quality. Any other year and i probably wouldnt consider them to be honest. Im hoping either Halo och AC will fill that void.

Yep. Year's not over yet. That, and Assassin's Creed 3 (Pfft... Ahahaha!) are still viable contenders for my GOTY.
Those two are the major games in the imminent future I'm at all psyched for.

So far, I'll have to give my Game of the Year for 2012 to...
Minecraft 360!

Mass Effect 3 was good, but when you consider the massive hours of fun I've sunk into gaming, Minecraft 360 takes the cake.

Journey for sure is my #1. I would say Xenoblade Chronicles is a close 2nd, but technically that came out before 2012

Though Tokyo Jungle was great too. I mean, my tiger wore a green bikini, a bowler hat, a scarf, and kitty paws. Stole territory from asshole lions. If Journey didn't come out this year, any game that allows me to do that with success should be game of the year...EVERY YEAR!

The Last Story was alright too, though I prefer Xenoblade.

Orcs Must Die 2. For being the least flawed and most fun.

Although ME3 was only flawed right at the very end and was otherwise a great game.

I might also say Planetside 2, but I have no way of knowing because they won't let me into the beta.

For me definitely either Borderlands 2, or Mass Effect 3. Waiting on Assassins Creed 3 to see if that will take a spot near GOTY for me.
