Speaking with the many friends I've made, maintaining my Homestuck usergroup, killing time, finding some (usually arbitrary) news, the fact that I don't want to move onto another forum.
What is your reason for spending time on these, The Escapist Forums?

I've gotten used to it, and I tend to embarrass myself on the PWOT forums because I'm not a very clever person. And they don't take such a lenient approach to stupidity as they do here. If you're being a twat, the mods will humiliate you, with good reason.
Boredom, mainly. This is sort of the default community I go to when I'm not part of a fandom or am just not active in that fandom or its community.
Plus, I'm a self-important twat and I can't keep my opinions to myself.

I watch the videos because they're entertaining, and generally intelligent.
I go on the forums because I'm a chronic procrastinator, and it's something to do instead of what I really SHOULD be doing.
Also, the forums are a great place to get a wide array of ideas and opinions... after you're done sifting through all the "The last enemy you killed..." and "Your avatar is now..." threads.

Boredom and procrastination, mostly. And the community is (mostly) very nice, unlike most gaming websites.
Most other forums are filled with idiots. These forums only have arseholes like myself to deal with, alongside the occasional moron or two, and they normally find themselves banned fairly quickly.

I blame zero punctation for drawing me into this. And now i'm seeing interesting threads every day. 
I used to come here for the discussion in threads, but I really only come here for the MLP user group nowadays.

It's kind of just here, and it's the first forum I ever really found. The mods are strict and the people are generally intelligent which means there isn't gonna be much trolling that survives long. People like to give me the illusion that I'm actually making a compelling argument which is a bonus.
Also (I joined really long ago but my other account got corrupted or something and I cannot for the life of me remember the email address I put it on) it's really helped my grammar skills. I came here being the guy who used txt speek. Through you guys (I wuv u all), I ended up realizing that I'm a decent writer when it comes to winging it.
Got me through High School.

I remember lurking for a very long time then when I asked a buddy of mine where I could go to get pulse on people who usually have the inside information. He ended up quoting an episode of King of the Hill to me saying "Go to the Escapist forums, theres some real wise bastards there."
