Watership Down is a good good one. Controlling a bunny for some reason hasn't been done yet... As for the novel I think should be made into a game... Age of Innocence. Bwahahaha just kidding. Edith Wharton sucks.
I know right. I have been kicking around an idea in my head for a while of playing a game as some "cute" animal. I mostly have been thinking kitten, but then for whatever reason, watership down struck me.
What if they made a sandbox game in the Watership Down universe. You start as a lowly child in a warren, and live the violent and depressing life of a rabbit. Then you, like fiver, have an adventure of sorts. It could be leaving then coming back with an army, starting a revolution, backstabbing your way to the top of the warren... The possibilities are limitless.

AAA Magic School Bus game. Imagine all the crazy places and scenarios we could face from one area to the next.

Either the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson and Ian C. Esslemont, or the Chronicles of the Black Company series by Glen Cook.
And Mogworld by Yahtzee!

Recently I read a book called "Way of Shadows", which as you can tell by the cover, is basically Assassin's Creed with a fantasy setting. Sure, it would be an AC rip-off, but there's nothing wrong with that... right?

Or maybe the Silverwing series. Not a kiddie adaption like the TV show. A darker and edgier adaption, however...

[small]Sorry, but I rarely get to sit down and read a book.[/small]

I would like to see Eragon turned into a game. Not the movie version (Spare me the movie version), but one that actually looks like someone read the whole book and didn't just look at sparknotes.
And dragon riding! Like Lair, only not completely broken!

I have just read "The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" for the 10th time. I think that would make a pretty cool game, if done properly.
Unfortunately you'd have to deal with the bad taste left in your mouth from the NES game.

My vote goes for Watership Down. "All I wanted was a nice game about bunnies," I can here children cry.
You know, the first thing that comes to mind is a game filled with lush landscape porn.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld Novels starring Captain Vimes and the rest of the watch.

I know there has been three games already, but the first two star Rincewind and were made at a time when the Discworld series was still making its transition to fantasy parody to a more serious reflection of our society, and Discworld Noir is near perfect in my book, but I just want to see all the other well known characters brought to life.

A game set in the Discworld universe by Terry Pratchett or the Xanth universe by Piers Anthony would be awesome in my opinion. Both are quite expansive worlds with plenty of opportunities for interesting gameplay. The satirical nature of either series would lend it's self well to a Fable like game.
first of it's been done

second of , no not like fable I don't need molyneux grease on pratchett literary gold
I was certainly not suggesting that Molyneux have any part in it; Fable like, not Fable clone. I was actually thinking that Pratchet's daughter, who has actually done game scripts before, would be a good choice for the main force behind the game. Many people have said that its been done before but from what I understand its old and outdated.

That sounds amazing.

maybe a new Neuromancer game I know it has a DOS/Amiga/Apple II game but that,s from 20+ years ago maybe a new one by Bethesda with some free roaming in it and a expanded universe.

Also a Twilight/Castlevania crossover game where you control the Belmont clan throughout the ages solely to destroy sparkly vampires.

David Weber's universe is a great setting for all kinds of stuff.

A really, really awesome RTS could be made about Thrawn's life as told in Timothy Zahn's books. It would be multi-factioned, story driven, and actually cast the player as a real character, unlike most RTS's.
I would play both of those, Especially the... Well no. Thrawn is my fucking hero, and David Weber is my favorite Sci-Fi author.

Metro 2033, oh wait.

That has to be the best novel to game conversion thus far.

Word has it they are making Metro 2034 into a game too.
Metro: Last Light isn't Metro 2034 afaik. I still want that book to be translated (2034). Metro 2033 was an amazing game and book.
