I found Black Ops to be severely underwhelming, the problem arises from the fact that the people who make Call of Duty games have no incentive to add to the formula or expand the playability but instead just fix what was wrong with the last game.
The multiplayer seems balanced for now, but that's only because people are playing it the way they used to play MW2, and that's what they designed the game to be, a slightly upgraded MW2. The biggest problem I have with the multiplayer is that it only supports 1 style of play, assault rifles (and maybe sub-machine guns but they're practically the same). You can kiss your ass goodbye if you try to use any primary weapon besides an assault rifle, and lord knows why assault rifles are apparently more accurate at long range than fucking sniper rifles. Shotguns are a joke, as in every Call of Duty. I don't get why a fucking standard civilian hunting shotgun apparently can shoot further and more accurately than a high tech military grade combat shotgun. Knifing is still the latency contest it has always been. I'd like to see the programmer go to a shooting range and then explain why a 12 gauge shell to the center of mass wouldn't down a man at 30 feet. Also, why is there only 1 available mod each for every shotgun? Assault rifles have about 8 mods apiece, why cant I mod my SPAS to increase range or accuracy or something? Sniping is broken (ya know,when they removed quickscoping they could have added extra damage to compensate for the real snipers you unfairly gimped). The spawning system is still a pile of ass. The customizable tag only means that now I have to look at cartoon penises whenever I die. And there is still absolutely no reason to try and focus on mission objectives over kills unless you want 1/4 the points you would normally get.
The story seemed underwhelming, as because they reference so many real life events, and because the cold war didn't escalate, you have no reason to believe that if you failed, something bad might happen. The presentation was disjointed and cutscene-heavy, and I honestly think that if you removed the parts where you have full control the game would still feel very similar. Also, the overall tone has this nasty habit of making Americans look like the little underdogs of the Cold War, which any historian would probably laugh his ass off at.

Mainly the Halo series after the initial game although I was conned into buying all of them.
Madden is a game I dislike, yet I like NCAA which are virtually the exact same.
Tekken and the games that are similar. I lost interest in Fighting games a long time ago.

I'm going to be mister original and say Black Ops.
I just don't find it fun. I beat the campaign and didn't feel satisfied at all.
The constant flashing lights and numbers just didn't immerse me into the story at all.
I tried multiplayer and didn't find being constantly murdered by the same few characters, with the same few guns, on the same few maps to be much fun.
Zombie mode was the best part for me, but there were only three maps to play on. :-(

I don't hate games like Call of Duty or Halo for simply being popular, I hate them because people won't shut up about them. This is especially bad when you work at a game store and have to spend a decent portion of your day listening to kids who are too young to even purchase the game yammer on about how awesome they are. Other than that, I usually feel indifferent towards games I find to be mediocre.
Point 1: Does everyone else outside the gamer community know this? If you look up Duke Nukem on say Google or Youtube you don't find the plat-formers. You find Duke Nukem 3D and Duke Nukem Forever as the top on there.Akalabeth said:

To them, it is about killing innocent bystanders, including obscene women. Whether that is true or not isn't the problem, but what people think is.
Point 3: I'm not saying anything about Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty. It is most likely true that they have done more to hurt the reputation of the gaming community, but you were talking about Duke Nukem, saying that it's reputation wasn't a problem, which as stated above seems pretty obvious that it is.
I hate these threads, seriously. All these 'what game do you think is overrated' and 'what games do you hate that others love' are really, is just a troll thread/list thread wearing a funny mask. Plus there have to have been about a million of these, one pops up on average once a week and gets flooded with responses.

Yeah, often the most fun things online are the completely insane ones. This is why it's so popular to lower the gravity and increase speed and jump height on the Halo games.
TF2 does sound pretty fun, especially the characters (IF GOD HAD WANTED YOU TO LIVE HE WOULD NOT HAVE CREATED ME!). I've often considered getting it (though when it comes to multiplayer shooters, my biggest hope is that Star Wars Battlefront 3 - a class-based multiplayer-focused star wars game - will come out).
Get it. It's the best way to spend $20 bucks. Free upgrades, free new weapons dropping, and you don't have to pay a single dime past the $20 to enjoy using various methods of mayhem for ultimate carnage.OhJohnNo said:

Funny, just got done playing both. Other than adding in the need for ammo, the combat was the same. And the story was more of the same but with more tobacco and xenophobia.
