I haven't played Skyrim yet but I do have an Argonian battlemage in Oblivion.

Chosen for the simple fact that all the races looked goofy. (the graphics have actually held up pretty well IMO except the faces and such.) Argonians looked the least goofy to me, and given the choice I rarely play as Human in any game on my first playthrough.

I play as Argonian, because I like reptilian races. I played as an Argonian in Morrowind, then in Oblivion so naturally I was destined to play as one in Skyrim.

I was going to pick Nord, just to represent my homestead and stuff like that, but when it came down to character creation I just fell in love with the orcs. So I made a one-eyed, snaggle-toothed orc and called him Albert. Albert the arch-mage, Albert the stomrcloak sympathiser, Albert the scourge of bunnies.

Dunmer. I was Dunmer on my last few characters in Oblivion and I liked it.
I started as a mage with mainly destruction, now I'm mainly using sword, shield and heavy armour.
Now I've just got to learn to enchant my legendary daedric armour so that my magicka recharges really fast.
And maybe makes spells cheaper and health recharges faster.
Now I always swtich to archmage's robes and Morokei when I want to use magic.

First character was a Dark Elf (my favorite race in TES lore) battlemage but I stopped playing that one at level 17 and switched to a Redguard sneaker who wields a two handed hammer... no it doesn't make sense but fuck that. I also played an argonian to 17 and I have a nord at level 2. My main is the redguard though and he is a fucking boss. Limitless supply of stamina read: standing power attacks between adrenaline rush and restoration w/ respite perk.

I did use Redguard initially, but after I found out they nerfed the Adrenaline Rush power, I changed.

I have a Nord 2H because it suits a character I have been wanting to play in D&D 3.5e for years. And hopefully my PS3 won't make the save disappear again... grumbles about losing out on Ebony Armor and Ebony Greatsword at level 5

I have also raised a Khajiit shadow-dweller (Thief/Assassin)

I will also be doing a Breton Mage as well.

Nord, because I'm rather unoriginal and use whatever race the game revolves around (used Imperials all the time in Oblivion and Dark Elves in Morrowind)

Playing a Wood Elf, specialising in Archery, Sneak, Alchemy and Smithing. I'm pro imperials, though I'm not really anti stormcloaks...yet. Just waiting for the imperials to be pro me, so that I know I'm not going to get left out in the cold if the imperials don't like me, and then the slaughter begins :D.

Altmer pure mage. I can easily copy-cat a Breton if I simply level my Alteration tree, and I think obtain the Atronach perk. The one that gives X% of magicka is absorbed. Also I managed to make a semi-pretty female Altmer, so I went with that for the lulzy fact that I'm taller than...just about everyone. Because I like laughing at the Nordic morons that call me "little elf."

I have 2 characters.
Main is an Imperial Dual-Wielding Warrior, Hero, Blade. Resembles how I look, took me like an hour to make X3
Secondary, a ruthless Khajiit, an assassin that kills and steals all.

Played as an Altmer battlemage, partially because I find their history fascinating, but mostly to hear fantastic displays of racism from the people of Skyrim...

But I didn't get it. Not one scathing 'goldenrod' remark from any of them save for the 'speak elf' remarks... I feel disappointed.
