I want "Mass effect; Retro"

Imagine; the galaxy set before humanity became a council race, when Shepard wasn't a Spectre and the biggest concern was pirates and slavers, where the Geth, Batarian terrorists and Krogan warlords were the real threats to galactic peace and prosperity.

Making sure these threats are contained, the council sends out teams consisting of the 3 council races, plus humans trying to butter the others up for a spot on the council, onto planets containing these threats, to board ships and free prisoners and materiel. Commandoes from every council race, working in the shadows to maintain peace and put out the fires in the galaxy before they can spread.

Something like Mass effect 3's multiplayer meets Fallout tactics. You recruit your teams, try to have a mix of tech, weapon and biotic specialists, do open assaults or covertly sneak in, you manage the abilities your squad has, replace those you might have lost, equip them with the weapons they might need while paying attention to how many credits you have access to...it would be fun.

Heck, a turn based tactical game seen from above sounds kind of cheap to make, yet add a map editor where you can add whatever enemies you want and can upload it online, and a co-op and versus online game where you can test various set ups of a team versus another player and you have a game that sounds both enjoyable and long-lived.

I'm going with the MMO opinion though - has been mentioned a couple of times, and seeing that ToR is doing ok so far, I don't see any reason why a ME MMO wouldn't be a viable option.

Would definitely have to be a fair way into the (ME) future though.
Does the world really need another MMO? Between WoW, Guild Wars 2, Rift, and ToR, would Mass Effect Online really do that well? Also, why would Bioware make another MMO? EA would not stand for that, as cool as it could be. Well, in the long run, maybe it would be viable if ToR runs it course in a manner similar to many other MMOs (that is, it dies in a few years). But would anyone really care enough to play a Mass Effect MMO in five, six years?

I'm going to say it will be something with 2-4 player co-op missions and some more multiplayer like in 3.I'm sure there will be some kinda reference to what has happened in the other ME games. They said you should hold onto your Me3 saves.

Sepuku.

At this point it's really the only option they have left.

Frankly? The ending of ME3 tanked the franchise. Even if they do set it in some sort of dystopian future, they've already destroyed what makes the Mass Effect franchise the Mass Effect franchise a.k.a the Mass Relays.

I really don't see where they could go from here that would be in keeping with the spirit of the first game, or the second game, or even the third. It's not Mass Effect anymore.

Where could it go? Gears of War/Warhammer 40k. Yeah, I said it.

An RTS. Please, please, please an RTS. How I have longed for a sequel to Homeworld 2. A Mass Effect RTS could have to potential to be that spiritual sequel.
That'd be a weird one, interesting though. And possibly awful, not sure Bioware have ever made RTS before.
Bioware Victory is making Command and Conquer: Generals 2 (RTS). I see no reason why they couldn't be brought on board.
Bioware Victory is not Bioware and should not be treated as such by the fanbase. That's just EA marketing at work.

Personally, I think they should do a civilian focused game. Maybe make the game revolve around a colony in the Skillian Verge that prospers or suffers in response to your actions. Part of the game could be colony management combined with defense against Batarian raids, while another part would be travelling the Verge and Terminus systems and gathering resources(through narative gameplay, not minigames) and dealing with mercs and pirates. Basically, make the game about something other than The Fate of the Galaxy.

While the colony itself might start out as a human colony, part of the colony's growth would include how to deal with other races, including the possibility of integration within the colony. The player could be any race(within reason), starting out as possibly just a freelancer contracted by the colony, but growing in influence as the game progresses.

Additionally, this would be an interesting set up to include the possibility of full campaign co-op multiplayer. Bioware has proven they can make the concept work. Integrating it into the game proper is just the next logical step. Naturally, the ability to play single player with NPCs should remain intact.

If we see another it's likely to be a prequel theres a lot of room to expand on the early lore or possibly a second story taking place during one of the three main games. I doubt we'll see Shepard again and really hope they don't try to move the franchise forward using more of the same its time for some new blood, they've build an incredibly rich universe and theres really a million interesting stories they could tell not everything has to be end of the universe theres plenty of smaller scale stories that could be just as amazing.

An MMO, yeah, I said it. And I want one.
That is the most likely thing to come, I mean the ending does leave a "we might not be done yet" aftertaste.
Now they got the TOR platform to build on so switch some skins and you are halfway there already, maybe change some story points so the fans won't get too fussy... profit!

I would just prefer for Mass Effect to end all together. why can't something nice just be the length it needs to be. I'd be just happy to see something like that happen. *sigh* damn subjective feelings.

Non-existent, until they fix ME3.

Ok, I'll be serious.

Realistically, they cannot make another game the way ME3 ended, unless it is set 'before'. Unless you fancy a game about the 5 years or so it takes the entire military of every race in the Galaxy to kill each other (excluding the Turians and Quarians who die in weeks because they can't eat Earth food) on an enormously overcrowded Earth. So let's assume Bioware release a real ending where the Relays still exist.

I would like to see the near-future internal politics of the Galaxy dramatised. Give the lead an Origin, where they play either to unite the races following their collective decimation and hold back the tide of opportunist criminals and politicians, or go all super nationalist and try to set their race up as 'leader'. Option to become a SPECTRE, Asari Commando, STG captain, councillor, colonial leader all sorts would be great fun (if somewhat time consuming for the developers...)

I'd play that game.
Blasto should team up with the first Geth and volus spectre...a geth infiltrator and a volus biotic

Mass Effect 4 should never exist.

There is no reason for it to continue and after ME3 there's enough stink around the series to make any attempt at a reboot/sequel/whatever panned before it even reaches the market.

Bioware should just cut its ties and work on some new IP.

Please stop saying they should make another Mass Effect. You're just encoruaging Bioware to start beating the dead horse and before you know it, you'll have Mass Effect wars, Mass Effect Reach and Mass Effect ODST (Aka Halo series being smacked around for more money).
They said it was going to be a trilogy, and they should leave it at just that: a trilogy.

Nothing. Even if Bioware fixes the shit ending they have still stated all along that this is a trilogy. They will expand the universe through different games but they will not be titled Mass Effect 4 because Mass Effect 3 was the end of Commander Shepard's trilogy.

Of course there are way too many hypotheticals for how Bioware could fix ME3's ending so lets go off the assumption that the Indoctrination Theory is correct and Shepard wakes up on Earth and stops the Reapers for real however your Shepard would, Heroic Sacrifice, Pistol and butter knife, doesn't matter, Shepard wins, Reapers are stopped. I just want to know within this lore (I've never read any of the books) what could really happen to keep things interesting after the Reapers were stopped? Or should 3 be the final instalment in the franchise altogether?

Captcha: make a bee-line
Is it telling me to head for my flame bunker after mentioning the possibility for ME4 right now?
Fuck that, I want to play a story in the Mass Effect setting with out the fucking Reapers weighing everything down.

Honestly why cant we have the setting without it constantly being time to save the galaxy? What about an intimate story about I dunno your a C-Sec detective (Any council race because why the fuck not.) And take the whole thing and make it a noir detective story all throughout a fully made Citadel.

Best move would be for Bioware to call their next sci-fi CRPG something other than Mass Effect. Then they can change everything to their hearts content.

The original setting is pretty much destroyed already with such crazy scenarios as no more organic life only synthetic cyborgs, or no more technology. In all scenerios the mass relays are gone, so space travel is very limited.

A fresh clean start is best.

The Epic Tale of Conrad Verner. That is all. Told entirely through Conrad's self-important stylizations of himself (kinda like Varric did for DA2) but all the ridiculous things he does are only actually possible because he's telling a story.
