Well, they built a completely new engine for Skyrim from scratch. Not to mention the Elder Scrolls is COMPLETELY different from Fallout (I LOVE oblivion, but HATE Fallout 3). Also, why are Bethesda in your worst developers list if you've only ever played ONE of their games?Drummie666 said:
Quick story:
The only game from Bethesda I've ever played is Fallout 3.
Fallout 3 is currently sitting in the #3 spot of my "Worst games ever" list. Number. Three. It was only outdone in shityness by Kane and Lynch 2 and Metroid Other M.
Needless to say, Bethesda found it's way to my list of worst developers because of it.
Now I've been glancing at Skyrim every few weeks and I actually thought that it looked like Bethesda was a going through a phase with the development of Fallout 3 where some sort of narcotic found it's way into the building's water supply... actually, if that did happen, Fallout 3 probably wouldn't have been anywhere near as dull, so it was probably something else.
Now I hear that they modelled a fair amount of Skyrim off of Fallout 3. Looks like I won't be paying anymore attention to Skyrim... or any near future Bethesda game. Oh well.
How long before Trogdor is modded into Skyrim? A day?ruthaford_jive said:What is this magnificent face carpet sprouting from my jaw... could it be?! And... and it's playing a guitar?Frostbite3789 said:Now imagine the dragon is Trogdor. Did you grow a beard immediately when you thought that?ruthaford_jive said:Hopefully they put a few machine guns in Skyrim... that would make things badass. I can imagine it now, my character riding on a dragon, my awesome bandanna of infinite ammo flailing in the wind, totting duel M240s in my arms as I descend upon a helpless village.
The engine alone doesn't mean that the gameplay and mechanics won't be similar and this article is saying that there changing a few things to be more like Fallout 3 from oblivion. The fact that they did that in the slightest makes me give up all hope for Skyrim.SextusMaximus said:Well, they built a completely new engine for Skyrim from scratch. Quite sad to be honest, II ask you just to try it with an open mind - trust me when I say that the two series - while borrowing similar, but few mechanics - are very, very different. The Elder Scrolls being Bethesda's flagrunner and the better of the two by far.Drummie666 said:The engine alone doesn't mean that the gameplay and mechanics won't be similar and this article is saying that there changing a few things to be more like Fallout 3 from oblivion. Also, calling one developer bad based on one game is based more on how much commitment they put in to it. For example, I don't say that DICE is a bad developer based on the multiplayer of Medal of Honor, because it was painfully obvious to me from playing it that DICE didn't give a shit about the project. But this is Fallout 3, this was a big, BIG game and they would have put a lot of effort into it. And it came out AWFUL.
If there's a demo, I'll give it a try, but that's all I'm going to give Skyrim. I may not be having an open mind right now, I admit that, but I just do not trust Bethesda after playing Fallout 3.SextusMaximus said:Quite sad to be honest, II ask you just to try it with an open mind - trust me when I say that the two series - while borrowing similar, but few mechanics - are very, very different. I can totally see where you're coming from, but it's a real shame. Try and play it at a mates house if you get the chance; if not, no biggie really.Drummie666 said:If there's a demo, I'll give it a try, but that's all I'm going to give Skyrim. If they pull that shit again...EverythingIncredible said:Here's another tip: Don't have a shitty ending. And on that same topic, don't have an ending that ends your game and prevents you from playing after the events of the main storyline.
Well think goodness. Now if only they'd release a fix for Oblivion itself. I mean the point of an RPG is that if you suck and fail a fight, you can go back and grind a bit and retry.Greg Tito said:What Skyrim Learned from Fallout 3
Gone is Oblivion's monster leveling system where all enemies progressed at the same pace that your character did. "Skyrim's a lot more like Fallout 3, where as you level up you are going to see harder things, but the easier things stay around as well." said Howard. "You'll still run into the weaker stuff and you'll just decimate it."
Ahem, Diablo.matrix3509 said:So RPGs don't require good stories? Lolwut? You do know what the acronym RPG stands for right? Just for the record the Fallout 3 main plot was literally the worst story I've ever had the displeasure to endure.zehydra said:I think when people complain about how much the story in Fallout 3 sucked, they missed the point of the game completely. The game worked much better in an exploratory, episodic manner (quests), as do RPGs in general. An over-arching story is good, but not necessary to have an awesome game.

Oblivion: run backwards, sing sword, block, run backwards, cast spell, etc.
They aren't Mexican? Huh, it has been a while since I've seen that clip and I've never actually seen the movie/tv show/other that it belongs to so I don't have any context for it.Klepa said:Vault Citizen said:Does anyone have that clip where the Mexican tells that bald guy he doesn't think that word means what he think it means?Greg Tito said:"You'll still run into the weaker stuff and you'll just decimate it."
I do not think Mexican means what you think it means.
But without the strong leadership of a dictator we will slide into democracy, this isn't Athens damnit!draythefingerless said:Its obvious Caesar has had to cut down on the military sector to pick up on ammounted debts. To everyone who insists on pointing out the original "reduce by one tenth" meaning of the word decimate- this is not the meaning of the word now. Although dictionaries still list the original meaning, if you read the usage notes you will find that the original meaning is only used in two situations:Draconalis said:Let's hope they don't devastate you in return while you're busy reducing them by 1/10.Greg Tito said:"You'll still run into the weaker stuff and you'll just decimate it."
