We don't have states over here, we have counties instead! This is because we're a unitary state, and not a federation. Though we do have the Welsh assembly, which complicates things somewhat.

Though, they get rearranged so much that it's impossible to tell exactly which county you're in at any given time. I always thought it was Glamorganshire, though this apparently isn't the case anymore, according to Royal Mail at least =\
