OP: I recommend a can of wasp Raid, the stuff is, I'm told, death in a can when applied to the bug it's meant for. Don't worry about range, it's supposed to reach about 30 feet in a concentrated beam of genocide. (may want to test it about a bit, though)
That made me laugh because it is true. I hosed down a small hornet nest in a corner of my window (outside, of course) a few weeks ago. They flew away for about .001 nanoseconds before dropping to the ground and twitching for a minute. Then their friends returned to the chemically-soaked nest to meet the same fate. And a few larva fell out. It also works on spiders!

I remember seeing those once. They are truly horrifying creatures that also eat babies. Because they're EVIL!

OT: Kill it with Windex, preferably, as some others mentioned.

Send out Charizard, and hope you have a healthy amount of Antidotes. Other then that, pest control guy, and ask him.

Maybe a Mud Wasp? Anyway if it looks like a Hornet or a Wasp, get some Raid that'll kill hornets and wasps. Those things are dicks.

Call a bug exterminator. Whatever they are, they probably won't react well to you doing anything to them so you need an expert, Unless you wind up as a story on the Discovery channel.

Obligatory: Bees. My god.

Hmmm... they look as though they'd be around for a while.

Start worshipping them and giving them sacrifices of your siblings and household pets to satiate their godly temper.

In the meantime, see if you can capture one, stick a pin through their thorax into a piece of foam and mail it to me... for science and all that jazz!

I'll be sure to send that to the guys at my lab... half of them will be wearing sadistic grins for the day, while the rest will be having nightmares for a month!

EDIT:

Thank you fine fellows for revealing to me the epic battles for survival going on everyday in the natural world.

In a single night I've been grotesquely horrified by the brutality and coldblooded efficiency of the hornet attack and then grotesquely intrigued by the swarming dogpile-style defense of the bees.

I hate bugs... I hate bugs.. I hate bugs...
There, there... they're just misunderstood. *goes off to comfort the insects*

Actually, the bees are swarming at the moment... and the ant-queens have spewed out a very large brood, this time. Awesome!

Holy hell. I'm now going to have nightmares about being smothered in a writhing stinging mass of bees as well as nightmares about seeing those Japanese monstrosity hornets.

*blink* *blink* I'm sorry you feel that way. I find it somewhat uplifting! (Given where I do research, I should, but I reckon that vid was brilliant.)

I was actually going to put in a comment to the effect of:

And at the risk of being flamed by those who are offended by romaji: Jouou no tameni!
