Ever had one of those moments? heres mine ,abye somone can explain the reasoning behined it

I'm talking about Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and bolts (I know I'm late in complaining about it but I havnt been gaming long)

1. ok so its on the Xbox kinda a given since Microsoft own rare or somthing, but its still a disadvantage since your averge gamer who isnt familiar with the series would be put off by its "kiddie" image so your relying on the fanbase here right?

2. Vehechles...VEHECHLES?? so you take the most beloved platforming/puzzle games of all time and turn in into....Vehechles? even of the humour is still there and its the greast vehechle game of all time the fanbase is still foaming att eh mouth in fits of rage I see it like having mass effect 3 and replacing the shooting with tetris

so you alienate the fanbase on a game that isnt exactally apealing to your averge xbox owner

Great job rare

had it been me I would have made a proper seaquel...mabye a little more epic and darker

The explosive collar concept in New Vegas: Dead Money.

In order to add challenge to the game, they decided to make your head explode for entering certain areas of the map. There's almost no point to it. It's simply there to make the DLC drag on unnecessarily long, forcing you to take long, asinine detours, and is an all around irritant as opposed to an effective gameplay mechanic.

I've had a few of these moments, but they're mostly for movies.

Generally, stuff that doesn't belong gets shoved in because it's popular. Vehicles are in, so Banjo's gotta drive. People like customizable faceplates for their phones, so they'll buy them for graphing calculators and X-Boxes, right?

I think the worst one I had was for Elemental, a game that was released broken with a Day One patch. Even with that, it wasn't a tenth the game it should've been and even now, months later, still can't really be considered ready. And this was to get the thing on shelves so they wouldn't have to wait until February. Given the way things are going, it might be done by then.

Well, the stupid and mind-boggingly boring mineral game from Mass Effect 2 comes to mind.
I can't think of a single argument in favor.
What the hell were they thinking?

Well, if you got some enjoyment out of it, I'm glad for you. Me, I really fail to see how staring at a spinning globe for hours on end is better than driving a tank that shoots rockets at big walking robots. They just had to adjust the way the thing drives a little bit, instead of just throwing it out (dito for the inventory). It was a decision that simply baffles me.

And the worst part was, you had to play it to get Wakka's best weapon.
I might have to give you /thread for that one.

I can't really think of anything right now...but just as a note, you might want to work on your spelling skills...I'm just saying.

Mineral scanning is terrible.
I would rather drive the Mako.
Sure, it handled like a wet turd, but its purpose was sound .. exploring worlds and making you feel like being part of something big.

Mass effect 2 is an amazing game, but .. too much streamlining is too much.
I mean, when the hub that is the citadel is supposed to be enormous, you get to move about and explore a zone smaller than the mission zones attached to it via fast travel stations.

I wanted to explore worlds in a better vehicle .. they took out exploring altogether.
Well, then there was the hammerhead, but a little tacked on .. as it only really applies to a few DLCs.

Insta-fail missions in Assassin's Creed. Whereby one guard spots you and you fail. Even though 1 second later he'll be lying on the ground with a hole in his throat.
HOW DID HE ALERT ANYONE?!

On a sidenote, OP, you do know they're spelled vehicles, right?

The way Detective Vision tints the screen in Batman: Arkham Asylum. I understand what they were going for, and it makes sense. The problem is that you use Detective Vision so often that it really isn't worthwhile to ever have it turned off. This, of course, ruins the ambiance of Arkham Island, turning everything electric blue, or occasionally different colors when you're tracking specific clues.

Also, the caves in Pokemon games. It doesn't matter what generation you're playing, they will always be filled with Geodudes and Zubats. This isn't really a problem later in the game when you can blast through any random encounter with specialized attacks, but early on, when you're still using moves like "Tackle" and "Scratch" and "Ember", it's pretty hellish. When you Pokemon isn't getting confused by Supersonic, it's spamming Scratch to take down a stubborn Geodude that has been using Defense Curl for the last 15 turns.

Call me crazy, but I actually liked Blitzball. Recruit that one guy in Luca who can block anything (seriously, I played Blitzball like crazy and he never let anything past him), learn the Jecht Shot, and suddenly, you're unbeatable.

Wait what ... I haven't played any pokemon since GBA days, but ... don't water attacks target special D, plus it gets 4x vs Geodude ... really should be a cakewalk.

I guess the situation probably isn't nearly as bad for players that choose the Water-type starter or go out of their way to catch a Water-type before heading into a cave. I've been playing Pokemon for, like, ten years, and I've never chosen anything other than the Fire-type starter, so I wouldn't know.

Well please don't just say, there are already enough people who will shit a brick if someone doesn't spell or punctuate correctly.

Now back to the topic at hand. Most of the aforementioned "What the hell were they thinking" moments often occur in movies than video games but that may be because I watch a lot off movies. The computer game Penumbra often annoys me in certain parts when you are deep down in the cave and a supposed monster makes a noise relatively close to your position, you can't see the monster but there are often signs that it has been there e.g. foot prints, blood, moved terrain, moved rocks and more. What really gets me though is that the game forces you then to go where a monster just was, I know this game is probably trying to maximize your scare in game (It is a horror game, check it out it is very well done.) but it is just WTF?!? when you are forced to go right into a monsters lair, you can't even get to wait for a while so it maybe could move.

Call of Duty the (Grenade launcher). I get that they couldn't predict how people would react to this new feature in Call of Duty 4, which was a big step up from Call of Duty 3, (I personally think that they thought the fans wouldn't care too much) but for the creators to just program it into every game after (I'm not so sure about World at War) that is just bad designing especially when it is used in multi player. I understand the concept of realism in games but people cannot use that argument unless you take other major factors of realism that they forgot or didn't use into account e.g.: vehicles.

Thats all I can think of right now.

water does beat rock but unless you pick the water starter, how do you get a water poké at the start of a game without a rod?

as for OT, i much preferred the mako to the scanning.
how the planetary scanning in mass effect 2 got past the playtesting or the focus groups or the initial meeting deciding on its concept is a mystery to me.

In R/B/Y amd FR/LG you can buy a Magikarp in the Pokémon Centre before Mt. Moon. Level it like crazy and you have a Gyarados.

On Topic: Assassin's Creed missions where you can't get caught. As stated above, a guard could spot you as you leapt down and drove a blade through his throat... but he must have a rape alarm or something because I failed the mission...
