my only real moment like that was in assassins creed when they took away your ability to catch yourself while falling. I'll give them taking away technique and weapons, but losing the basic instinct to catch yourself was a bit extreme.
off topic but did anyone else notice that if you fell from high enough onto a stall it would collapse?

honestly i liked the Mako once i realized they didn't design a car so much as an RC car.

In Diablo 2, some special enemies explode and damage you when killed, and later some regular enemies do it to (on higher difficulties it's usually fatal.) Whoever decided this would be a good idea needs a good punch to the gut.

Ever had one of those moments? heres mine ,abye somone can explain the reasoning behined it

I'm talking about Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and bolts (I know I'm late in complaining about it but I havnt been gaming long)

1. ok so its on the Xbox kinda a given since Microsoft own rare or somthing, but its still a disadvantage since your averge gamer who isnt familiar with the series would be put off by its "kiddie" image so your relying on the fanbase here right?

2. Vehechles...VEHECHLES?? so you take the most beloved platforming/puzzle games of all time and turn in into....Vehechles? even of the humour is still there and its the greast vehechle game of all time the fanbase is still foaming att eh mouth in fits of rage I see it like having mass effect 3 and replacing the shooting with tetris

so you alienate the fanbase on a game that isnt exactally apealing to your averge xbox owner

Great job rare

had it been me I would have made a proper seaquel...mabye a little more epic and darker
Speaking of Mass Effect 3, I wouldn't be surprised if EA removed the rest of the RPG elements (like leveling and, talking to people) in order to complete the transition from action-RPG to 3rd-person, cover based shooter. The gameplay differences between Mass Effect and ME2 is somewhat jarring, like taking a mis-step down a flight of stairs and, the reveal trailer for ME3 looks like the trailer for a game more like Killzone.

water does beat rock but unless you pick the water starter, how do you get a water poké at the start of a game without a rod?
In R/B/Y amd FR/LG you can buy a Magikarp in the Pokémon Centre before Mt. Moon. Level it like crazy and you have a Gyarados.
This brings me to a big WTF moment: in Pokemon Black/ White you don't get any rod until you have beaten the Elite 4. Sure you can still get water types if you don't mind them being part water but if you want a proper water type you have to chose that specific starter. On the plus side: when you do get your starter Pokemon in Black and White you battle the other two as opposed to the one starter who has the elemental advantage over you...

One word. Blitzball.
And the worst part was, you had to play it to get Wakka's best weapon.
Call me crazy, but I actually liked Blitzball. Recruit that one guy in Luca who can block anything (seriously, I played Blitzball like crazy and he never let anything past him), learn the Jecht Shot, and suddenly, you're unbeatable.
That's pretty much the way to do it. I always got the guy outside Djose Temple.

Now Lulu's weapon power-ups... Just fuck off.

I can't really think of anything right now...but just as a note, you might want to work on your spelling skills...I'm just saying.
Well please don't just say, there are already enough people who will shit a brick if someone doesn't spell or punctuate correctly.

Now back to the topic at hand. Most of the aforementioned "What the hell were they thinking" moments often occur in movies than video games but that may be because I watch a lot off movies. The computer game Penumbra often annoys me in certain parts when you are deep down in the cave and a supposed monster makes a noise relatively close to your position, you can't see the monster but there are often signs that it has been there e.g. foot prints, blood, moved terrain, moved rocks and more. What really gets me though is that the game forces you then to go where a monster just was, I know this game is probably trying to maximize your scare in game (It is a horror game, check it out it is very well done.) but it is just WTF?!? when you are forced to go right into a monsters lair, you can't even get to wait for a while so it maybe could move.

Call of Duty the (Grenade launcher). I get that they couldn't predict how people would react to this new feature in Call of Duty 4, which was a big step up from Call of Duty 3, (I personally think that they thought the fans wouldn't care too much) but for the creators to just program it into every game after (I'm not so sure about World at War) that is just bad designing especially when it is used in multi player. I understand the concept of realism in games but people cannot use that argument unless you take other major factors of realism that they forgot or didn't use into account e.g.: vehicles.

Thats all I can think of right now.
I was just pointing it out...it's just trying to help.

am i the only one that didnt mind the mako????
No, I preferred the Mako to both scanning and the Hammerhead. Sure, it handled like a cow, but it was entertaining and could take more than 5 shots without blowing up, unlike the Hammerhead.

Mass Effect 2's ammo system always really bugs me, because it makes no sense as it's implemented.

The explosive collar concept in New Vegas: Dead Money.

In order to add challenge to the game, they decided to make your head explode for entering certain areas of the map. There's almost no point to it. It's simply there to make the DLC drag on unnecessarily long, forcing you to take long, asinine detours, and is an all around irritant as opposed to an effective gameplay mechanic.
True. Same with the toxic cloud.

OT: Fable 3. What a disapointment.

Final Fantasy 8's magic system.

So first, let's make it so that the only way to get magic is to "Draw" it from your opponents, while they're pummeling you to death.

Now, let's go on to arrange our system so that magic is used to "junction" weapons and armor to make them better...but this junctioning gets weaker if you actually use that magic.

Finally, let's make sure that you can have EITHER the best spells in the game OR really good weapons and armor, but not both at the same time.

To sum up:
1) Punish the player for trying to get magic
2) Punish the player for using magic
3) Punish the player for not using magic

I tried to like this game, but between the horrible gameplay and the mandatory - yes, MANDATORY - card game that made me want to gouge out my own eyes, it was just too much to ask.

Firstly, EA don't make the game, they publish it. While they would have a limited input creatively, the development team is Bioware, famous for their Role Playing Games. As much as people like to hate on big bussiness, in all walks of life, EA are not stupid enough to try and remove Mass Effect from one genre with which there is an audience, and place it into a genre that is over populated and far more competative. If anything, EA must be scared, from a marketing perspective, of attempting to challenge titles like Call of Duty in their own respective domains. Battlefield has a following already, but even the reboot of Medal of Honour didn't do as well as they would have hoped, critical failure that didn't manage to topple the top behmouth.

Removing the RPG from Mass Effect would be like Walkers Crisps changing the Cheese and Onion flavoured crisps to taste like Chocolate. Dumb.

When you Pokemon isn't getting confused by Supersonic, it's spamming Scratch to take down a stubborn Geodude that has been using Defense Curl for the last 15 turns.
Wait what ... I haven't played any pokemon since GBA days, but ... don't water attacks target special D, plus it gets 4x vs Geodude ... really should be a cakewalk.
I guess the situation probably isn't nearly as bad for players that choose the Water-type starter or go out of their way to catch a Water-type before heading into a cave. I've been playing Pokemon for, like, ten years, and I've never chosen anything other than the Fire-type starter, so I wouldn't know.
I'm pretty sure there's an appropriate counter available to catch very early game.
'cos the designers are not idiots.

Hmm.
I think the wingull from emerald could be caught at level 2 or somesuch, and has a water attack.
Grass type starter tends to have the easiest time of it, I heard (I just played water).
Or maybe get a fighting type? I think low kick is fairly effective against Geodude.

The Stimulus Map Pack for Modern Warfare 2. The textbook example of how to NEVER make a DLC. But the big problem here is that I knew what they were thinking making that. $$$$$

I loved the mako! It handled like crazy, but it was fun!

OT: Getting rid of fun in the GTA series.
