i would probly say the original super mario bros game on the atari 2600
Super Mario Bros. was never released on the Atari 2600, Mario Bro's was, "Super" was on the NES.

The game that did it for me was Combat for the 2600.

I don't know, probably either spyro, mario 64 or zelda: oot because those where the first games I played, we kept borrowing consoles from my brothers friend. That was back when I was 6.

Super Mario Bros. III!!! I didnt care about the story I only cared about the fun power ups and actually being better than my brother at something for once...

actually I think I have to thank the NES in general, even though Mario was my favorite, but my grandpa always bought us all the best games that came out. all my crappy games came from my "friends".

Playing excite bike is one of my earliest memories, and the reason I started playing videogames period. I remember taking the motorcyle off one of the ramps and thinking that it is amazing that you can actually intereact with what was basically a TV show. It's not much deeper than any flash game I've ever seen, but it makes me smile everytime I see it for the pure nostalgia.

Super Mario Land on the GB.
Never completed it then, still haven't completed it now.
Either that or Final Fantasy IX and Legend of Dragoon, my first game loves.

I should say tetris, but what really got me into gaming was Final Fantasy IX. I still have it, sitting there on my shelf, being the godlike game that it is.

Crash and Spyro. I was very young at the time and we'd just got a PS1, it was back in the days when that seemed so awesome now...

I'd have to go with The Guardian Legend on the NES. I could've easily said the original Metroid, but I got my hands on The Guardian Legend a good year after I beat Metroid and by that time I have thought myself an established gamer... WRONG! I really had to put in A LOT of effort to beat TGL, and when I finally did (it took me a good 6- 7 months of intense gaming to beat it) it was just a feeling of accomplishment that no other game has ever given me afterwards. That game was THE GAME that tested me.
