What was the last comic book/manga you read?

Now, I'm not much of a comic book reader OR a manga reader myself, but I do pick some up from time to time. And recently, I received in the mail a few books I bought on ebay, some comic books, and manga.

On the manga side, I purchased the full 6-book set of Scott Pilgrim. I loved the movie, I loved the game, and I'm JUST now getting around to reading the manga that started it all. Just finished the second book, and I really like it. It's interesting to see the differences between the movie and the books, and seeing what's funnier in either. (I think the whole "You suck, surprising no one!" line is WAAAAY funnier in the books).

On the comic book side, I finally broke down, and purchased a comic book event I've always been curious about, but never actually read myself: Amalgam Comics. If you don't know what that is, the quick version is that in the 90's, DC and Marvel had a crossover event, in which the heroes of both universes had to fight each other, to save their respective universes. But to prevent the destruction of one of the universes, they were merged together to create the Amalgam universe. This merged the history, events, and characters of both companies together, giving us things like this:

I haven't finished them all yet, but I'm enjoying most of them. X-Patrol (Doom Patrol + X-Force) is my favorite so far (I found Beastling, the combination of Beast Boy and The Beast, hilarious), and there's some really fun combos in this event.

So, my fellow nerds, what's the last piece of sequential art you've read?

The last comic I read was Red Lanterns #2. There is just something about all of the lanterns that keeps me so intrigued.

Full Metal Alchemist, got me into manga/anime, sadly I have the un-resistable urge to finish something once I've gotten through a lot of it, so now I am stuck in the horrible world of Bleach

Chapter 156 of Bakuman. I bought the first five volumes, but then I started reading them online because I didn't want to wait, and I'm a horrible person.

First volume of Fuan no Tane+ for me. It's a "sequel" to Fuan no Tane which uses the same style: Ultra-compressed horror short stories. The shortest ones being only a single page long, making the punch of the weirdness (weird in the traditional sense) even more impressive. Not everything in the first series was good- a lot of the stories were only entertaining, or cheesy, or hilariously unscary.

Some of the stories, however, contained scenes that will stay with me for quite a long time. Even though they're all a little absurd, they deal with certain deeply-held fears (the fear of being watched or followed, the fear of someone intruding on your home, etc) and are disturbing on a more cerebral level than you'd expect.

I struggle with the kanji, but it's not too bad in this manga. Not as disturbing as the original series so far, but hopefully there'll be something more in the next couple of books.

The only comics I have are the Bionicle comics I got in the mail a few years ago. I am missing comic #22(or is it #23) but besides that, I got the first one, to the climatic battle between Mata-Nui and his evil brother Makuta.

On the manga side, I read all mine online simply because I don't know where to buy the books. The last manga I read was called Magi, and it is, basically, 1000 Nights in manga form. It's pretty good though, and I can't wait for more.

The last manga I read was one of the volumes of D. Grey Man. I don't remember which. I don't really read traditional comics.

Annihilators: Earthfall #3 was the last one I read cover to cover.

More recently, parts of Batgirl (v. 2) because I was checking and confirming a couple things before I ordered TPD of the series.

The latest issue of Kick-Ass 2. Don't think I'm liking this one as much as the first. I must be getting Mark Millar'd out.

Also, yay!, someone else read the Amalgam comics. Honestly they're kind of cruddy, but in a very fun way. It always makes me wish DC and Marvel would go back to doing crossovers.

I have a fairly large collection of manga on my book shelf and I have read everything on there 10+ times. currently rereading the entirety of Black Cat. Would be reading my favorite manga Gintama but they stopped publishing it in America halfway through. I still have all 23 published in english though.

Last manga I read? Rurouni Kenshin way back in 2006 I think.

As for last comic book, I think the Batman: The Penguin Affair (Batman #448 & 449 and Detective Comics #615).
