As I said above, Hush is interesting, but not as great as it could be. Read it depending on how much you liked Long Halloween.X4NDR said:I've been getting my Batman lore on:
Arkham Asylum A Serious House on Serious Earth
The Long Halloween
The Killing Joke
The Dark Knight Returns
Anyone care to recommend me other Batman comics? I'm really itching for more.
Arkham Asylum was quite a surreal experience. I haven't read a lot of comics so I don't really have a gauge on the standards but it's definitely not the traditional panel comics you normally read. The art style has surrealist overtones with very detailed illustrations. The Joker was especially disturbing for me. I can see where the game got it's influences from. If you plan to get this apparently there's a 15th anniversary rerelease of it with annotations about the symbolisms in the book which will help because there are a lot of them. The story can be hard to follow at times because of the art but it's essentially Batman trying to get out of the asylum as well as a side story that explains how Arkham Asylum came to be. Again the rerelease should help understanding the story more.j0frenzy said:As I said above, Hush is interesting, but not as great as it could be. Under the Hood is supposed to be good, but I haven't read that much of it and your opinion may vary depending on your emotional attachment to a dead Jason Todd.
I heard good things about everything that happened when Batman was "dead", but I haven't checked that out.
If you are just looking for Batman mythos, my GF swears by Gotham City Sirens.
Oh, and Batman Year One is supposed to be really good thing and the other worthwhile part to Frank Miller's alternate Batman universe. Approach at your own risk though. (Again, working off of rumors more than actual reading).
Incidentally, how was Long Halloween and Arkham Asylum. I may be on a bit of a Batman kick and looking for new stuff.
