Fairly simple question with plenty of discussion value. What was the last book you read that you enjoyed so much you were proud to have read them ?

For me it's iRobot and The Speed of Dark. Both very well paced stories with great endings.

Im reading Mogworld right now, so far pretty good.
I also re-read 1984 recently, probably my favourite book of all time.
Also for anyone interested in debating religion, check out the God Delusion

Do you mean "I, Robot"?

The last novel I finished was The 37th Mandala by Marc Laidlaw, which was actually pretty good. Anyone who can tell me what Mr. Laidlaw's more recent writing projects are gets a cookie and a nerd badge.

i bought these books called the half orcs by david dalgish to try out my new kindle i had just gotten, picked the books at random. They were so good, very dark fantasy, and it geuinely made me care about the good guys and even some of the misguided bad guys.

Read the Name of the Rose last, but wouldn't recommend it. Same with 100 years of Solitude.

I havn't read any good books in a while, last I can remember is Valis a few months ago. Read that.

That one's awesome, hope you enjoy it. Probably one of her best if you ask me, but I've only read four or five including that and Murder on the Orient Express.

I recently re-read Cryptonomicon for the sixth time. Still excellent.

Love Agatha Christie, havn't got many of her books, but have the t.v series and audio books, fantastic. Also just watched the film Witness for the Prosecution, If you like her stories you have to watch the film.

Earth Abides. Is like a 1950 end of the world book. Like all but a few people were killed off by a disease. the book followers Ish as he finds a wife and some friends and starts a little community. its apparently got all these themes that run through the book. Like at one point this guy turns up and he has "love" diseases so i think they kill him or force him to leave cause they dont want to bring those diseases into the community.

But anyway the book actually made me cry which i never thought a book could do.

Spoiler alert just in case. Basically at the end of the book it goes fast through 20 years where ish is one of 2 old men then there is just him left, the last american, and the younger children. He has a stroke i believe and passes on leadership of the tribe and then dies.

I'm reading Dracula at the moment, and have been for a couple weeks.
It's pretty awesome, BUT RIDICULOUSLY FUCKING LONG.

Technically not a book or novel, but posted because despite being fanfic it is somehow the most emotive thing I have ever read.
And because this thread needed to be about 20% cooler.

The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. It was quite good. Not sure if I'll read the rest of the series tho...
