Dream Walker by J.R. Thomas. A nice contemporary spin on the mystical side of Native Americans. Good read for your kids if you have any.

Do fanfics count as books? Because Fallout:Equestria was/is the best book I've read for a long time. It's 240 pages (microsoft word pages) and it's still in creation. but yeah, it's pretty damn amazing.

I'll just leave that there for anyone who's interested.

Edit: Ninja'd =/ Darn.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy has impressed me the most lately.

That book is wonderful and horrifying all at once.

Ninja'd you on Fallout Equestria, but kudos for the Lil'pip avatar. : )

And David Eddings is brilliant. I'll have to check out Althalus sometime.
I'd suggest Eddings' The Elenium and The Tamuli if you haven't already read them.

I just started reading Lolita. The most impressive part is how it seems to switch from third to first person without it distracting from the drama and plot.
I also finished Foundation not too long ago and loved it.

Fairly simple question with plenty of discussion value. What was the last book you read that you enjoyed so much you were proud to have read them ?

For me it's iRobot and The Speed of Dark. Both very well paced stories with great endings.
For me it would have to be the Bible. But if you are talking secular literature, I would have to say the Jurassic Park books were a great read

"Gauntlgrym" by R.A. Salvatore. I'm a huge fan of the Legend of Drizzt series, and Salvatore continues to find new ways to develop Drizzts' character even after 20+ books. (Possible spoilers ahead). What I think I enjoy the most about the book is how it goes into depth exploring the fact that elves outlive other races, and how they deal with losing all of their old, shorter-lived companions such as humans, hobbits, and dwarves.

Yes I have, that and the ruby knight/crystal throne/ whatever are awesome. Also, darn at being ninja'd (REALLY didn't expect that at all haha, but it's good to know more fans!) and yeah the picture johnjoesco (I think that's his name on Deviant art?) drew is nigh-on godlike as far as I'm concerned. Captures Velvet and Pip PERFECTLY.

Kinda screwed up the battle saddle, but what you gonna do =P

Terry Pratchett's "Making Money", I love me some Discworld.

[sub]...not much of a market for English books round here, sadly, so they come in a *lot* later than in other places worldwide.[/sub]

I'm currently reading the Wheel of Time series, which is pretty damn cool. Jim Butcher's Dresden Files & Codex Alera are quite awesome as well.
