What was the last movie you watched, and did you enjoy it?

I recently saw the 1978 Superman movie starring Christopher Reeves. I've never seen it in my 21 years of life, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It takes a lot to break into the shell of a cold cynic like myself, but watching this movie brought out the little girl in me that would rush home early to watch Big O and Gundam Wing. From beginning to end I was charged with a genuine sense of excitement and enjoyment as I watched what I will forever hold as the definitive version of Superman.

I don't need Brian Singer making him into some loser, deadbeat dad who left a pregnant Lois Lane to take care of his child so he could go do some bullshit soul-searching, or Hack(-fraud) Snyder telling me that "Superman needs to be realistic and dark" like the fucking Dark Knight. Superman is supposed to be colorful, fun, hammy, and stand for truth, justice and the American way, as his character even says.

According to my viewing history I watched Funeral Kings, which was an okay comedy done by some guys who sometimes contribute to Cracked. Yeah, it was passable.

Before that, I recently watched Event Horizon in its entirety for the first time. I thought...
It was a better Doom movie than the actual movie for Doom.

And before that I watched It's A Disaster, which I thought was pretty funny. I like disaster movies, and while it wasn't as funny to me as, say, The IT Crowd or Welcome to Collinwood, it got a few good chuckles out of me.

*EDIT* Oh right, and Better Off Ted. I love those fake commercials they put in it.
Better Off Ted was an amazing show. It being canceled after 2 seasons was a crime against good taste.

I was disappointed by Event Horizon. Excellent concept, average execution. It's in my top 5 movies that need a redo.

Cabin in the Woods finally, and yes. I did. It wasn't the life-changing miracle of film that Moviebob promised, but it was enjoyable. And hell, I have to give them props for taking such a batshit crazy concept so far.

I think it was a re-watch of The Uninvited. I enjoy the movie, even if it did make me feel somewhat stupid the second time through and seeing all the foreshadowing that I missed the first time.

As far as the last new movie I watched, I think it was Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Not really my kind of film. It wasn't even that I didn't understand it, as I understood it. It just was a relatively boring movie to watch.

I watched Taken recently. It was pretty good, but certainly didn't live up to the hype. If it hadn't been hyped to high heaven by everyone and their dad I probably would have come away a little more satisfied.

Pacific Rim, on launch weekend. That movie was totally worth going to the theater.

Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters and it was complete garbage. It's also easily one of the worst films I've seen in recent memory.

Wolverine Origins (the newest one). I liked it, although the end result of the final fight was a bit stupid (won't spoil it if you haven't seen it).

For that matter, the first Wolverine movie would have been great if not for the massive failure of Deadpool's presentation at the end, but I can parse that from my mind and still enjoy the rest of the flick.

Looking forward to Days of Futures Past. Also hoping that Spiderman 2 fails badly enough that Sony sells it to either Marvel or Fox. It's not likely to happen, but still.

I... want to say it was Hot Fuzz, but I could be wrong. I don't watch movies often at all, and that's the last one I can remember watching, which was back in May when I went to the UK.

Needless to say, I really did enjoy it. 'Twas quite hilarious and because of it my boyfriend and I have yet another thing we can randomly spout quotes from on a regular basis.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa and it was actually the first film this year I saw at the cinema that made me glad I paid to go and see it. After most of this year being dissapointments to see Alpha Papa live up to the high standard set by I'm Alan Partridge was more than I could have hoped for.

In reverse order, which by coincidence comes closer and closer to being an actual movie.

Kino's Journey: In Order to Do Something -For You-
A prequel to Kino's Journey, the bestest anime ever except for the four or five better ones. This, however, was not that good. It's like they took everything great about Kino's Journey and said, "Well who wants that?"

Death Billiards, Arze Rezzle, and Ryo (or, the things from Anime Mirai 2013 that weren't Little Witch Academia)
Death Billiards was the best, I liked Arze Rezzle the most, but it was about a guy who wants to fuck his sister, so it gets a -5 to its final score. Ryo was just terrible. Death Billiards is also the only one that functions as a standalone entity. It also has an old guy beat up somebody with a pool cue, so there's that.

Pacific Rim
Yay, a real movie! I...I think I'm supposed to say it was amazing, but I can't. It was a solid movie, it fixes basically everything wrong with modern action movies, and I'm glad it exists, but I didn't particularly enjoy it. Not sure why. It does, however, earn a bonus for containing giant robots, and a much bigger bonus for not romantically entangling its two principal characters.

I've been watching a lot of 50s/60s sci-fi lately and last night i watched The Angry Red Planet.
It was amazing. It was filmed in 9 days with a budget of $190,000 so you can probably guess how bad the effects are and just everything in general. But man is it entertaining. It used this gimmick called 'Cinemagic' for the Martian landscape scenes, which was basically just using the red portions of the footage to give it this glaring tint. Oh and I'm convinced that the bat-rat-spider-crab is the greatest movie monster ever.

Elysium. It may be the worst film of the year, but I guess the year isn't done yet. The writing was amongst the worst I've ever seen in a film, which is sad, give how pretentious it was. Bad writing, bad dialogue, poor action scenes, mediocre special affects, and terrible characters. I couldn't understand half the dialogue that stupid mercenary spouted off, and the entire theater burst into laughter during some of the most "dramatic" scenes. The whole thing was embarrassing. It was heavy handed nonsense with unrealistic characters. If you want a story about class warfare, go read A Tale of Two Cities. Heck, Les Mis came out last year, go watch that.

BEFORE Elysium the last film I saw was Kickass 2, which... kicked ass. It was a vulgar, funny comedy that had a surprising amount of heart. They could have made me laugh and called it a day, but they went that extra mile. Better writing, better character arcs, better overall story, and SIGNIFICANTLY better acting and directing than Elysium. Probably the only good film I've seen this year. I'm going to be seriously depressed when the trilogy is over.

Yeah but... topless, ripped Matt Damon.

I've just realised I don't even know what Elysium is about, but I am desperate to see it and the entire reason is Matt Damon and one split-second clip from the trailer I've seen thirty odd times so far. Oh well, I guess the marketing department know their audience.

Dredd was surprisingly good. I liked it a lot. There's a coherent character arc that happens and the Judge also happens to have an a certain badass that has seen the worst of humanity personality about him. Whatever, I liked it.
