Elysium. It may be the worst film of the year, but I guess the year isn't done yet. The writing was amongst the worst I've ever seen in a film, which is sad, give how pretentious it was. Bad writing, bad dialogue, poor action scenes, mediocre special affects, and terrible characters. I couldn't understand half the dialogue that stupid mercenary spouted off, and the entire theater burst into laughter during some of the most "dramatic" scenes. The whole thing was embarrassing. It was heavy handed nonsense with unrealistic characters. If you want a story about class warfare, go read A Tale of Two Cities. Heck, Les Mis came out last year, go watch that.
Yeah but... topless, ripped Matt Damon.

I've just realised I don't even know what Elysium is about, but I am desperate to see it and the entire reason is Matt Damon and one split-second clip from the trailer I've seen thirty odd times so far. Oh well, I guess the marketing department know their audience.
You won't be disappointed then :)

Just came back from my second viewing of The World's End.

This movie is fantastic. Definitely my favorite of the Cornetto Trilogy, and I LOVE all three films in said trilogy, so World's End reaching the top of the three is certainly an achievement. It works as a really funny comedy, an excellent sci-fi film, and an emotional story that is actually about things, all at the same time.

Side Effects and hell yes I enjoyed. A really good, clever, unpredictable Steven Soderbergh film from earlier this year. Check it out.

Edit: Actually, I just saw The World's End. Also excellent. I'm gonna leave Side Effects there to get it some more eyes.

Emperor of the North.

Originally billed as "Emperor of the North Pole", this is a refreshingly simple story of two men struggling towards mutually exclusive goals. The year is 1933. Unemployment in America is rampant, and legions of hobos are traveling the land in desperate search of work. The only way for them to do this is to stow away on freight trains.

Ernest Borgnine plays Shack, a ruthless freight train conductor who hates hobos with a passion bordering on obsession. He has sworn that nobody will ever steal a ride on his train and live to tell about it, and is only too happy to outright murder any hobos he catches.

Lee Marvin plays an old, experienced hobo who is a legend in the hobo community, known only as "A No. One". A has no real need or desire to ride Shack's train, but after a younger hobo known as Cigaret claims to have done so - a boast which would qualify him to the title of "Emperor of the North Pole", the greatest honor among hobos - A sets out to prove himself once and for all. But Shack knows about this plan, and is hell-bent on getting his train to its destination - hobo-free, or not at all...

Yup. 1973! They don't make movies this good anymore. Look at that Technicolor footage - you can damn near smell the smoke and grease from the engine!

Oh, I enjoyed it, all right! Great movie.

Pacific Rim. It had a few problems, but nontheless it is a great movie, if you like giant robots.

Now You See me. I thought it was a fun movie. I'd also like to say that Man of Steel was a MASSIVE let down. I read this somewhere and I completely agree, "The crappy superman returns movie with a dark knight filter on it".

Hot Fuzz, literally 11 hours ago.
Yeah, I liked it. It was good British humour and a lot of fun.

I last watched ParaNorman, after my lady got me a copy for my birthday. Confirmed it has to be one of my favourite films of recent years - I think I love just about every single aspect of it.

I just watched Back to the Future for probably the hundredth time. That movie is just so awesome.

As for a movie I haven't seen before, I watched the newest Batman movie. I thought it was pretty good, although it could have been much shorter. It certainly wasn't as good as the previous one, but it was still enjoyable.

Pacific Rim, and it was amazing.
Well made, entertaining and if you don't think too much about it, and just rolls with it, it's fantastic.

Am going to see Elysium next, it looks great.

Elysium. And I enjoyed the hell out of that movie. I wasn't a fan of the whole Frey and her daughter plot, but the rest was great. Fuckin' love that gun Matt Damon picks up towards the end and absolutely shreds the cover that one dude was using before annihilating him. I'm pissed off one of the most original films of the year did not make much money. Too many people seem to prefer some form of sequel or adaptaion, usually from fucking comics.

I perfered Hot Fuzz, but only by a marginal bit. The World's End is really amazing and I'm surprised it wasn't the most recent movie more responders had seen. But I'm in that category since I watched Dredd on Netflix last night. Did I like Dredd? I'll just say I wish I could say the last movie I'd seen was The World's End.

Highlander. The first (AND ONLY) one.

I think the fact I now consider it a new favorite of mine a sign I enjoyed it.

Last movie I saw period was Spaceballs. My 6 year old and I have watched all the Star Wars movies and most of the Clone Wars seasons so I thought it was time for him to see a parody of SW. He loved it, laughed his head off at a lot of the jokes. He even got some of the adult humor. We ended up watching it twice back to back cause he wanted to make sure he didnt miss anything.

The last new movie I saw was Iron Man 3. Not the best movie but we liked it, good popcorn flick.

I watched Nausicaä of the valley of the wind a few days ago. I do that once in a while to remind myself how beautiful this movie is.

District 9. I had to watch it after I saw Elysium a couple of weeks ago (I'd never seen District 9 at the time), and, I'm not exaggerating, it was so good it basically erased my memories of the still-very-good-but-not-as-good Elysium. It's now easily one of my favorite films.
