There is no point to quote a good friend of mine when I asked him why he always chooses evil his response. "I like being a dick."

I generally found the game easier on my bad playthrough. Ammo wasn't as scares since I just stole it. I got better equipment early on. And I got a nice place in TennPenny Tower.

I couldn't do it.

I felt too guilty being mean to the funny little NPCs.
Its funny you say that, because I always do good in games and in real life, whether its helping a little old lady across a road in real life or getting a child's balloon in Spiderman 2, I'm intrinsically good in everything I do...

But I tried being bad in Fallout for the loot and perks and you know what?, my enjoyment decreased greatly since my evil playthrough, I've not played Fallout 3 since I was a cannibalistic murderer that destroyed Megaton.

The perks from being evil were cool as were the bonus's, but I killed Harold and ate Nathan's face.

Not only did my father scorn my actions, but I did too, this was not the wasteland I hoped to help, instead I made it that much more inhabitable place for Three Dog, Seria and all the other wacky personalities I met on my journey to saving my dad.

I promise in future, I will be a better wastelander!

Actually, my best character was an evil one, I made her as much of a dick as possible just to have something different but then I played through the campaign and did the "good" thing at the end where I purified all the water and was rewarded with a massive dumps of good karma that brought be back up to "neutral" by the time I started the expansion pack missions.

But she's still my best character because being able to kill anyone without giving a crap gave me way more XP, I missed out on a few weapons but not much, I just looked through the Fallout wiki and stole what I couldn't ask for.

I dunno, I'm playing as very good right now, yet I have a bit of a kleptomaniac personality. If I'm in a house alone, I WILL steal anything not bolted down. But, I do so many good things, and help so many people (oftentimes for free, ironically) it apparently doesnt matter. I once stole almost everything in a lady's house, and she gave me a free stimpack because I was "such a nice person".

Yes, I felt like a complete and total douche...

Next time I play through though I am going to try being as evil as possible and see how far i can get. I have a feeling it will be a lot funnier thta time around.

For the loot? I think I was able to get every single decent extra perk and weapon in the game by being a right bastard to everyone. And I had so much stolen money/ammo/health packs etc that I was practically invincible.

Also it's fun to kill every single person in the wasteland.

To be honest I though the main topic of this thread was going to be, whats the point of being bad in Fallout 3,when the ONLY way to end the game is the noble sacrifice?
Kind of defeats the purpose of being as bad as you can.

I dont know. Being evil was so much more staifying in Fallout 2 where you could use your jackbooted heel to stamp a baby into the concrete and use the remains as the main course at a dinner party for the parents.

What? Theres nothing wrong with that.

As for actual consequences to being bad other than having Regulators on your ass, well you Father really disapprove's, he's really disappointed.
Thats not that bad. Your father's an idiot who thinks destroying the one piece of technology to bring fresh water to the barely 50 people that are still alive is a good idea instead of just helping Rivet City with their own purifier which is actually showing some progress. Or just fixing up Megaton's purifier, if you didn't destroy it. Which there really was no good reason reason to.

Sorry, seems I got sidetracked. OT: There's really no actual in-game concequence except your dad and Karma Dog bitching you out. Other then that nobody really reacts to you.

I also miss setting your intelligence really low and having hilarious dialog choices.

i was thinking, apart from the amusing town massacres and blowing up megaton there wasn't
much point being bad in fallout 3, being good you can have fawkes, star paladin cross and i think a3 21's plasma rifle you have to be good to get, but being bad the best you can get is callahans magnum and thats all i can think of i might be being totaly ignorant of some parts of the game but thats all i can think of...
so what was the point? (btw i'm not saying this game is bad, apart from that one thing so don't take it like i dont like the whole game because i really do)
It was fairly well balanced actually. The rewards for being good were more long term things, while being bad allowed for a lot of immediate gratification and easy loot all through the game.

It's actually one of the few times in a game where I thought being a good guy was worthwhile because in many games evil characters get to amass tons of wealth, and power, as well as use what are arguably more effective abillities in combat, where being good in comparison might just have NPCs act friendlier towards you.

Well, now you have a brand new wasteland with twice the amount of NPCs to help, be nice to, do errands for and give sex to!

I'm a goodie two shoes in Vegas too. Though it's a little harder. I still can't decide which option is the best for the people.

Well if you kill a familly of cannibals and then pick up something from their house, loseing karma in the process, you know the karma system is crap.

I once shot up Riley's Rangers compound then put their severed heads onto plates on the table before placing the bodys on the chairs making it look to someone just walking in that they were about to dine on their own heads

Easy Money basically, Well thats why I started out evil, I got so rich just stealing everything from Tenpenny tower..and mudering everyone in it... and got me freely in to Paradise Falls

Then after that, I slowly became good.
