[HEADING=1]What was your first impression of the Escapist as a poster?[/HEADING]

As for me, like many other people I was drawn to here by ZP. I was linked from a forum I frequented before it died. (RIP OblivionSource).

After making my account I remember the how I was astounded at how fast the forums moved. Things were changing so fast I thought my computer was freaking out. There was so much to do and talk about. Don't even get me started on the Forum Games, which intimidated me with their many pages.

My first thread was about DarkSiders, which was bumped to the second page before I could even make another post.

I remember thinking I would never get anything near 1,000 posts. If you told me a year ago that I would get 10,000+ I would have called you a crazy person.

I remember posters I used to idolize. Like FishFoodKarl, Eggo, NecroSwanson, Purple Rain, ect.

So, what are your distant (Or in some cases not too distant) memories as your first days as a poster?

I had terrible spelling, lacked spacing, and even got an insult from Max.
My memories of the past aren't quite looked upon fondly, although I did feel good for making gonzo within 5 days.

Hm...I remember I was just another random internet person who used web speak like "LOL" not frequently mind you.

Its amazed how much I've changed and even how much smarter I am since being here.

Just look at my earliest posts and look at the posts now.

I also remember the first Escapist that stood out was Cpt. Oblivious and I was just astonished at his post count and thought it would take me forever to just get 1000 posts, but somehow, I was at 5000 posts 3 weeks ago, now I'm up over 2000 in just a few weeks.

Goddamn it I love it here!!!

Well, I was driven here by ZP just like you. Eventually I decided to check out some of these here forums and became astounded at the intelligence level here compared to so many other forums I've been to. Shortly after I created my account, combining my only 2 online personas at the time. I simply enjoy posting here and having conversations with the various people here, as we can be both silly and intelligent when appropriate.

That this place was pretty meh at first. This has since changed from a meh to a cool.
Still didn't stop me making 50 posts in my first night here. Didn't think I'd become this hooked on the place.
Must be the drugs they feed me.

At first I tried to be intellectual and ended up leaving blocks of text filled with grammatical errors, I just went into to much detail I thought the topics were really interesting though. I gained more regard for grammer on the internet and recieved the bitter sting that came with putting up a VS thread. My first thread (the VS one) was actually a sucess and got me the Hot Topic and Excellent Topic badges even though I kept hearing about flame-shields and such, I guess technically it was a "Should I buy X or Y" thread so it wasn't as bad.

Me, maybe because he got banned before I got gonzo. But he did praise me (as far as his praise ever went) for my religious views. I felt good after that posts. I was a simple papaerboy at that time.

I'm pretty sure my early posts (on another account) were all emotionally charged rants at people. I didn't get banned or anything, but I sure was a bit of an opinionated dick.

Nor did I? And if I did I wouldn't make any kind of deal about it.

I never liked that guy..

I came here and thought it was rad. People on Internet who aren't complete idiots? Woah! Then again, I joined early 08.. A lot has changed...

I had nothing to do and I saw it as a goal of sorts, to make gonzo. Within 5 days I was successful without so much as a single suspension/probation, I even made my first Escapist friend during that time. After I fianlly hit Gonzo I relaxed my posting and spent shorter periods of time on it.

Like most people, I came here for ZP, then I looked at the forums and liked them so much I made my profile a year later, (that's quite a big gap isn't it) and have loved every day of it.

I was half expecting a community as bad as GameSpot, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's like moving into a street you heard was a bit rough, but finding out it's full of awesomeness.
