What was your first impression of the Escapist as a poster?

I came here without even the intention of posting in the forums. I got bored one night though and took a look and saw a few threads that I felt like commenting on. Thus my profile was born. I had horrible spelling and actually often enjoyed posting in forum games and before I knew it I was at 1000 posts before the months end and I wore that Morpheous badge with pride. At the time though I never imagined I would be one of the few posters on the site to have the Neo badge.

Well, I was attracted here by ZP and I'm still technically a newbie since I've only been here for about 6 months. But in my first days as a poster here on the forums, I have to say that I was absolutely terrified of voicing my opinions or getting on someone's bad side. But after spending so much time on the forums, I can comfortably say that I am right at home here.

Long live The Escapist!

although I did feel good for making gonzo within 5 days.
You shouldn't.. That isn't something to be proud of...
I had nothing to do and I saw it as a goal of sorts, to make gonzo. Within 5 days I was successful without so much as a single suspension/probation, I even made my first Escapist friend during that time. After I fianlly hit Gonzo I relaxed my posting and spent shorter periods of time on it.
How many of those 1000 posts were meaningful, well thought out and intelligent and how many were one line posts for the sake of getting a higher post count?

Nothing to be proud of.

I saw it as a good site with respectable members and good discussions, Still see it as that today.

I was very surprised to find such a pleasant community on the internet. I was used to youtube. I did usually hang out in the small oasis within youtube known as vlogbrothers videos, but even those had some trolls that would come and fuck with everybody trying to have a good time.

Now, the Escapist is the only forum I use.

My first few days were in response to ZP's Conduit review. That period I was giving that game as well as the Wii the middle finger and proclaiming that I was gonna get a PS3, and I even posted that on the review comments. Then my first thread was a simple one asking for recommendations of PS3 games. Few weeks after that I posted a couples times, made a few threads myself, nothing special. In all seriousness I was never "immature" or "young" on this site, I have always been civil and posted good posts without any sort of ridicule.

Fast forward a few months and here I am, I'm not exactly known like many guys here :(, I don't really care about having a high post count.

It was months before I actually joined the forums. I only did because I read an attrocious article about the extra-textual references of Half Life 2, and had to comment how terrible it was.
