Pfft. I was born in 1980, I was playing games long before there ever was a rating system, including games with full frontal nudity (Ultima 7 and Daggerfall, anyone?).

Doom was unrated, as was Duke Nukem 3D. I remember the NSRB rating for Duke Nukem 3D Plutonium pack, though: Obsecnity 1 for common 4-letter words, Nudity 1 for pixellated, brief nudity, and Violence 4 for Blood and Guts. Each is now rated "M".

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
My first and favorite GTA. I got it as a christmas present when I was 7. Loved it ever since.

a true crime game I think
Wow... I probably need to go get some sleep. I read that as "a hate crime game"...

Oh, and mine was Mortal Kombat the original. My mom was pretty upset about me playing that, even though I was 16... Such violence!

I think it was the first Doom- I dont think there were any M rated games for the Mega drive or Amiga, and I know i got doom as one of my first Ps1 titles.

Technically, it was Mortal Kombat 2, but I had the very first Mortal Kombat which was the reason why the ESRB was formed in the first place.

I guess the first Mortal Kombat. I remember them inventing the rating system shortly after it and doom. I was... 12?

I hate you people you make me feel old.

edit: Actually I bet the old police quest games might have been rated M if they came out later. What with the murder, rape, and satanic cults you had to stop. Plus you do shoot some people. You shot them dead.

Mine was Wolfenstein 3D when I was 6 I believe, it was extremely fun for it's time.
Wolfenstein 3d came out before the rating systems.
