PS3: Uncharted 3
XboX 360: Mass Effect 3 -or- Modern Warfare 3
PC: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Overall: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -or- Modern Warfare 3

This is just my expectation and it does not reflect my opinion in the slightest. I hate Call of Duty ever since 4 screwed me over with its noobfriendly multiplayer.
Mass Effect 3 comes out next year. XD On March 6th, 2012.
Really? Thanks for mentioning. Free prize for MW3 then, I suppose.
You're welcome. *flys away into the night*

skyrim, without a doubt.

i thik my personal top 5 will be something like:

1. skyrim (not yet played)
2. diablo III (not yet played and not sure if it will be released this year)
3. ghost trick
4. portal 2 (not yet played)
5. gears of war 3 (not yet played, but did play the beta)

its still a toss up between diablo and skyrim for me, knowing that diablo II is my favorite game ever.

If what I hear about Skyrim being stream-lined is true, it will not win. That being said, I'm looking forward to Battlefield 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, and I'm hoping for an early Hitman release.
Hoping.

It's a bit early to say at this point, seeing as a bunch of quality games have yet to come out (Skyrim being the first thing on everyone's mind, obviously). As of right now, though I think that Portal 2 is going to win. It was a sequel to a game that was pretty much perfect, and it totally backed everything up. In an alternate universe where a 14 year development cycle would lead to something really good, however, I'd go with DNF.

Skyrim. Sorry if your opinion is different but you're just wrong. No I don't want to hear it. You're just wrong.
Normally I'm not this blunt about things but seriously, Skyrim will most likely be game of my life (at least until the next The Elder Scrolls VI).

SKYRIM!

Can someone explain to me all this love for skyrim? People seem so sure, even though it hasn't come out yet.
Because it is part of a series that sprouted many people's favorite games in either Morrowind or Oblivion (my favorite game ever) and is being developed by the same people who made Fallout 3 which is another candidate for many people's favorite game ever.

Basically, because the past three games Bethesda has created have won multiple GOTY awards and are pure gold, it is likely that Skyrim will be completely amazing as well.

Do you understand now?
Edit: Corrected did to do.

So far Dragon Age 2 of the games I've played this year.

Hard to say though...I've not played Portal 2, but it seems to have gotten a great reception from everyone. I have a hard time seeing any game beating it this year.

Since I have no faith in Portal 2 winning though I'll say Uncharted 3 since its even more mainstream and likely to be quite good.

How can you say that if you haven't actually played it yet? I voted for Portal 2, and you can't say that Skyrim is better unless you have sat down and played it.

How can people believe in God if they actually haven't seen him? My religion is that God Howard (see what I did there?) creates games that are pure gold.

I knew this thread would be fill with ignorance of something they haven't touched... err... Skyrim. None of you know it will even be good. It even amazes me with the lack of people that actually posted games that they have played...

Anyway, so far I'd say Bulletstorm. Too many good games haven't come out yet, and I still have yet to play much of DNF or any of RF:A.

Few examples of games people said were going to be amazing but failed:
BioShock 2
Dragon Age 2
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XIII
Homefront
Brink
Crysis 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Fallout: New Vegas
Left 4 Dead 2

And I could go on for a while...

How would Skyrim being streamlined at all prevent it from winning GOTY?

Also to everyone saying that MW3 will win it, when was the last time a Call of Duty game won the GOTY? It's really popular but that doesn't mean it's good. Quality, by the way is what most sites/shows that have GOTY awards go by.

OT: Skyrim. It's been anticipated since Oblivion and all the other reasons people have given. I sort of want L.A. Noire to win though just so companies can see it and realise they don't have to make shooters to make money.

Well it's an opinion on whether or not some of those failed I will say that the only one on this list I expected to be amazing was Dragon Age 2 and yes I agree that it was pretty bad.
However, Bethesda's tack record is absolutely stellar. I really can't think of a developer that is as consistently amazing as them.
Probably on Blizzard and Valve create pure gold games as consistently as Bethesda.
So in all seriousness, when the last three games a developer has made have all various GOTY awards, I really wouldn't expect anything different.
